As for the Walmart thing... it's funny because there are two within 10 miles of me. One of them is a pig sty and the people in there are scary. The other is really nice and the people in there are just normal average people. The latter has a Target, a Meijer, a K-Mart and a Walmart all at the same intersection, one on each corner, basically and they all pretty much have the same clientele, except for K-Mart. Our K-Mart is dirty and looks old and dated. I rarely go in there. It is, by far, the least desirable of the four stores. The Boy Scouts had a laser tag party tonight, near the nasty Walmart and the moms were all talking about nasty that Walmart is. One woman's mom works at that Walmart and says it is downright scary to see the people that come in there. Just depends on the patrons, really. |

Reading Dee's post reminded that many years ago, I had heard that Walmart rates its own stores. The one in my hometown at the time rated near the bottom Guess that's why they dumped it and built a much better one.
On a semi-related note, if I had to work in a fast food restuarant, I'd choose Chick Fil A; always very clean and employees well mannered. Either way, I'm happy that I don't have to work retail (and hope that never changes). But thanks to the people that do work there...somebody has to. |
Dad is great...brings me chocolate cake!
Bill Cosby is awesome :D |
Whoever did the electrical wiring in my house must have been on some serious drugs. The other day, I discovered the hard way that there are two rooms in my house that go through the same circuit. The first room is the downstairs family room, which has lights (obviously) and a wine fridge. The other room is one of the bedrooms - which is located as far from the family room as possible while still being in the same house. That room is my office and contains a fair bit of computer equipment. All was fine and dandy until (with the recent cold weather we've been having) I decided to put a space heater in my office. A bunch of computer equipment, lights, and a space heater in the office + lights and a wine fridge in the family room = blown circuit breaker. I'm sick of going into the freezing cold garage, sidling past my car, and resetting the damn thing. At least the garage is on a different circuit, so I can turn on the lights and find the bloody box... which, oddly enough, is directly under my office.

Also, one of the original creators/designers of the orginal Tron is a CCS graduate. The original creator/designer of the alien in "Aliens" the movie is also a CCS graduate. One of the main creators/designers in Star Wars is also a CCS graduate. And I know there are a lot of CCS gradutates who helped with the creation and design of the new Tron, the reason for the sweet bikes, cars and other cool designs and art. We rock. Quote:

Sucks that I have a layover in Chicago when I fly home for the holidays. I should have taken the train, like I had planned. I hate flying.

 My choir moves with the stealth and speed of a special olympic hurdler. (Cookie to whoever figures out where the line is from):
Anyway, we were supposed to Flashmob the Hallelujah Chorus at Nordstrom's in SouthPark Mall last night. Obviously, we had a ton of people who didn't understand the concept, because after about the 189th person arrived and stared expectantly at the pianist, and the 20th cell phone camera was started, people realized something was up. Sigh. I realize that this is somewhat of a meme, but actually Charlotte started doing "Random Acts of Culture" back this summer when Opera Carolina Flashmobed Atherton Mills, and the Charlotte Symphony Flashmobed the Charlotte-Douglas Airport, so as a city, we were actually on the beginning end of the trend. |
^^After reading a news story about this saying we had an estimated 3000 people participate, I amend my earlier sentiments. You cannot be casual when you pack 3000 people into a Nordstoms, even at Christmas time. I really didn't realize that It was that many, because the piano was under the escalator and I could only see about 1/4 of the people.

See, told ya. You get what you pay for. You should've gone with Northwest...well, Delta now, since they've merged. I didn't have any layovers, and I left in the morning. Since you have to leave so late, yeah, you should've taken the train.:p http://www.hollow-hill.com/sabina/im...psons-haha.jpg |
