I'm tired, I have some complicated and costly health problems, and it takes all my energy to keep it going some days exclusive of grieving like normal healthy people do. I don't have the energy, time, or inclination to carry other people when I'm just trying to take care of me.

*offers a hug* I feel you.

Two years ago, she'd lived through a physical injury that was much worse than this, and required 14 days of my hand-to-hand medication and nursing her back to health. This time, however, her little mind and heart just couldn't take this scare. I awoke this morning to check on her, and I found her little body just curled up in the corner of her small "sick=cage". Bye bye, my sweet little bird. Your chirps will be in my heart, and each morning, your greetings will ring in our ears.

Poor kitty just misses his friend.

This is so sad. It's horrible to lose a pet. Sorry for your loss. :(

After almost 17 years with this health system, and 10.5 years in my current department, I am going to have to go. It is sad, because some of my co-workers are like family. The day I have to give my notice is going to be really tough. The day I actually leave will be awful. It is time though.

Did you ever hear back from GE? Best of luck! Wish there was something in the ATL.

I don't know how to do my hair for formal. HALP! I'm tall and will be wearing heels, strapless silver asymmetrical simple long dress. I have thick brown hair that goes about 4 inches below my collar bone. Fairly loose curls naturally but it's pretty versatile.

I was THINKING maybe either straightening it and leaving it all down with loose curls in the front or straightening it, pulling half/some of it up & teasing it into a "bump it" style up front. Not exactly the poof, but you know, just some volume up top. Ideas?

Best part is I've tracked down the car exactly. They live in an apartment complex near mine. Good idea to drive off when you're pulling out of your apt complex and you hit someone. Great idea.

I hope you were in an area with cameras & that someone gets held responsible for this.

I hope they find whoever was to blame, but I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.

It's always heart-wrenching when your "baby" gets its first damage, even if it's just a scratch.

Thanks for letting me vent, ladies! The damage is pretty bad because it's on one of the doors and it knocked off my side mirror but it's not completely horrible.

It was on campus so there are cameras and I reported it, but I'm not holding my breath.

And aephialum---"heart-wrenching when your 'baby' gets its first damage"--- *exactly* how I feel!!! And this is my first grown-up car (read: paying for everything myself, picked it out myself, the whole shabang) so I'm especially attached to it.

Just do it Dee! I went through the same situation and I'll tell you It won't be easy at first but in the long run you'll be happy. Hell, you might end up kicking yourself in the ass for not doing it years ago.

Well, I just applied for 6 jobs tonight, instead of doing homework.

They "cancelled" two of the jobs I had applied for. Two are still listed as "Open" with my status being "Resume submitted but not yet reviewed". One of the 6 mentioned above was with GE again. I can't relocate until my kids graduate from high school or unless I want to give my ex-husband full custody per court order. I'm not willing to do that. I'd rather be on a tight budget than give up my kids.

It's even more difficult because I was told that in a meeting the other day, the executive team was discussing people who are instrumental to the department's success even though they are not management. I was told that our former department chair named me specifically. "Like AGDee, what would we do if AGDee left?" I know that if they had any control over it, they would pay me more, but their hands are tied.

I love me some Border Wars.

Nothing like seeing your hometown on TV every week.

I also love National Geographic channel in general. It is one of like 3 reasons I still have cable.

I hope they find the person who did that to your car. If they don't, I totally believe in Karma.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

A warm "thank you" to anyone here who has served, or is currently serving, or who have loved ones in the military. Your sacrifice is appreciated more than you may realize!

Thanks, Irish!! Moina was born in my home county.

On an unrelated note but WOW!!! a home high school band won a national championship!!!

The George Walton Academy Marching Bulldogs Band placed first last weekend at the United States Scholastic Band Association National Championships in Annapolis, Md.

The national championship trophy, which stands nearly 8 feet tall, will be added to the collection of hundreds of other awards and honors the band has received over the past dozen years, including the USSBA Southern States trophy it won last year in Chattanooga, which qualified the Bulldogs for the trip to Annapolis.
