It deleted my OS, so I had to reinstall Vista. Thankfully, my important documents were saved, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I'm backing it up on a CD. I don't have an external drive. What's a restore point and "problem" point? You're scaring me.:(

eta: knight_shadow, you don't think I hurt anything by turning it off then back on again, do you?

You don't know?????? I know that DS or someone can probably explain this better, but let me try.....

A restore point is a point in your computer's history where you can "restore" it back tot he way it was. A lot of times restore points are created when you install/uninstall programs....but you can also create restore points. The points are useful when something goes wrong (i.e. a program you installed messed up your computer) because you can kinda go back in time to when you didn't have that program.

If you haven't been making restore points though, it's pretty useless. You can look to see what restore points your system automatically created (if you've allowed it to create its own) but it might not work.

CD = external, so you're good

I mean, if you set up a restore point now and something happens to your computer, it will restore you to this point in time (ie. you'd "saving" all the problems that are causing your computer to mess up).

But since you're putting it on a CD, you can disregard that.

ETA: Read what epchick wrote!

So if I stick to just backing up all of my information on a CD, (until I get an external drive) then I should be o.k. right? Also, why do you think it gave me that weird message? Do you think I hurt anything from shutting it off and back on again?

Oh dear God, I just ran out of blank CDs. I have to go to the store to get some more. I hope nothing happens to it while I'm gone. This is a nightmare.:(

I bought a 30 pack. This should last me for awhile.:)

epchick and knight_shadow, thank you SO much.

Dear english professor,
I know I'm cute. I also know you are 57 years old. That being said, I don't appreciate you trying to get in my pants for the past hour and a half. And yes, the shirt I'm wearing means I'm in a sorority, and no you cannot come watch us have our "super sexy pillow fights". Understood?
See you on Tuesday.

Dear People Downstairs,

Please invest in some headphones. After you get them and you feel the need to blast your music after 10pm 7 days a week, you'll have them right there.

kthx,

your grumpy upstairs neighbor

You should've shared that info with the department instead of sharing it with us. Seriously. And I don't think it was wise to share with us.
