CTFU! I can't fuck with big girls, but that's different because it's based on the physical. You feel me?

This is why you're not going to get a dude you want. It's 2012, and you're still stuck on 1812. You need to get out of your shell and approach dudes. You're like christiangirl. Y'all get all hung up on old fashioned dudes doing old fashioned shit LOL. Dudes don't do that anymore, not like they used to.

A fair few of them were also getting dumped before the end of the movie, too. If you want to get sex and keep walking it's one thing. But don't act like any of them were happy with their situations before the change up at the end.

I think dude with the bald head was good with just tappin that ass, moreso than he was kickin it in a relationship with ol girl. I think restaurant dude was happy either way. The problem with him is the female he was with. I thought she was a snobby bitch. I don't think they would last because of her snooty ass. The only two mofos in the movie who were tight being tied down was the white dude, and mamma's boy. Out of the 4, I think white dude and ol girl was the only relationship that seemed like it was going to last. Bald headed dude will probably eventually fuck around on ol girl LOL. Mamma's boy just seemed soft as hell to me. I think his girl is eventually going to get tired of that shit and move on.

Nope, I don't feel you on that one. I'm much more concerned with a man's personality than his physical appearance.

I don't want a dude, I want a man. A man who is interested in a woman asks her out. Men my age know that. I don't hesitate to initiate contact on PoF or OKC, but he has to initiate that first meeting.

Physical appearance can change. Personality rarely, if ever, does change. People are set in their ways pretty strongly by their late 20s. Yes there are some things that can be tweaked, but for the most part, not so much. If my boyfriend (or whatever) always wants to stay home and can't be out around alcohol, that will be limiting to me if I want to go out and see people or have dates with other couples. Yes there can be activities that we do separately, but there would be problems if he never wanted to go out or couldn't be around alcohol especially when I like to go to Happy Hour or something similar.

Just some of the things you've said about your views on relationships on here was similar to the shit he was talking about in the movie. Your whole thing about females being the ones in control. And about making dudes wait for that ass LOL. His 90 day rule was similar to what you were saying. Dating dude for at least 90 days, then give up the ass, because if dude waits for 90 days, he's in it for the long haul.

You posted this in the movie thread, but I'm responding to it here because I didn't want that discussion to turn from a movie discussion to D&R. I think you've misinterpreted my D&R posts. Go back and read again. I made a bad mistake one time, and one time only. Never again. Because of that, I have boundaries about my body, and I've set boundaries to protect what should only be mine until a man commits his life to me at the altar –and not a day before. If a man has no emotional investment in the woman he is seeing, he will always take whatever she is willing to give as long as it does not cost him anything. IMO, I just believe that a woman who knows her value does not discount her time or love. I believe that it should cost a man something in order for him to appreciate his relationship with her. How on God's green Earth do you equate some "90 day "sex" rule" to my thoughts on sex?

Sounds like a "90 day guarantee" on a cheap product at Walmart.

Dude/man.. same thing. So if dude looked like shit, but was cool as hell, he would be your type? Based on what you posted, you kicked it with dudes who were cool, but you kicked them all to the the curb. What about that dude you were telling Cheerful about? Was he your age? You said he did some foul ass shit to you, but he was your age though, right? That's why I told you that old school, "open the door for the female/roll out the red carpet" shit is gone. He's ignorant because he shows his ass when it comes to his misogyny but clearly that's not a problem for you (since you do the same thing).

Dude has his own businesses, he's talented, has written a successful book, and now has another successful movie on the big screen, and on top of all that, he's made millions. That's far from ignorant. Dude turned his life around too, so holding something against him that happened in his previous life is ignorant as hell on your part. Folks make mistakes. With me, you don't know how I treat my girl, or how I have treated other females.

If he weren't actively misogynistic (still) and (still) making millions off a book and now a movie that is misogynistic, maybe we wouldn't have a problem. Since he is, I can call them like I see them.

Owning a business, being talented, writing successful books, having movies, and making millions doesn't preclude someone from showing their misogynistic ass.

Yep. I read a "self-help" book in the morning before work, and at night before bed, each day and night of the week. It's called the Bible. I read that one, and I apply it to my life both morally and romantically. Am I perfect? Nope, that's why I read it. Nothing against the Stephen Harvy guy or his book, and nothing against your sister or others who have an interest in his book, and other "self-help" books. But, to me, it's bad if it's only based on his or her opinions. I mean, when it comes to D&R, there's nothing wrong with having an opinion on that, but I just think it's important to know where one's opinions come from. I don't have a problem with people who want to read his book, but if it does not come from Biblical teaching, I don't care how good the secrets and suggestions sound, to me, they are worthless. Let me rephrase that. Self-help material needs not only to derive from the One who created counsel and wisdom, it needs to be repeated in the right context –not doctored up to suit any person's personal agenda and rationale. So, no I will not be reading his book about his little "90 day" thingie -whatever that is. If you like the guy, agree with his book, and his thoughts about dating, then you read it. :)

You are saying that somebody else's opinion is wrong, so it is logical to assume you mean only you are right.

christiangirl 04-23-2012 11:27 PM

I had a pretty good heart-to-heart with my cousin. I love how much we can learn from each other. We were looking at each other's lives and pointing out things the other might take for granted. She has a beautiful family but regrets always working what pays the bills rather than figuring out her passion. I get to do what I love all day but come home to a stack of textbooks and a fish. :p Neither of us is unhappy with our lives but occasionally, we look at what the other has and wonder if the grass is greener.

I think the grass will usually be greener on the other side...but once you get over there, you'll find the water bill is high as hell and want to go back. I'm fine where I am for now. :)

You may not find Steve Harvey informative (I certainly do not) but I have tried to stop dismissing people solely based on such things. You will be shocked by the good information that people have to offer even when they do not fit a certain mold. Wise people come in all shapes and forms as do dumb people.

Besides, it's more entertaining for people to talk about exactly what they disagree with rather than blasting Harvey for being an ex-con who looks a certain way. We already know the ex-con (who considers himself saved) and the physical appearance thing. What next?

You make it seem like dude's views don't make any sense. He's got just as much wisdom about dating as you do. Just because the shit didn't come from the Bible doesn't mean his views are way off in left field. You sound as bad as ol girl with the pink writing.

She did ban me. I knew it was her because she kept coming around when I would post over here and other threads. She was watching me, basically. I didn't know I was banned so when I signed back on, it fucked me up because the screen turned gray with a message from her. At first I thought she fucked up my computer. Have you actually read the TOS? Also, while I don't feel like looking through that thread for my posts, I seem to remember I was mostly talking to somebody else about how her opinion wasn't the only one. You are saying that only your opinion is right. There is a difference.

I didn't say anything about him not having any wisdom. Do you even know what wisdom is? It's knowledge with understanding. When you have knowledge without understanding, you are simply harboring information without knowing how, when, or why to apply it to your circumstances. I don't know anything about the guy other than what you've posted about him and that movie. You tried comparing his D&R views to mine, and based on what you said about his views, they are not the same or even similar to mine. I look at the motive behind the decision on a person's thoughts or views on things, no matter how brilliant the idea may seem. I don't agree with his, but I never said he didn't have any wisdom at all. I totally agree with you about not judging someone based on how much they know just because they went to prison or don't dress very nice. I mean, many who have not attained high levels of education have still made major strides in life because they had understanding. Some call it "street smarts" but I call it wisdom one has attained from a healthy combination of observation and practical life lessons. So, please don't put words in my mouth just because I don't like his views on relationships. K? :)

Ditto. He may not be the guru he thinks he is but his suits have nothing to do with that.

CTFU! AQAK, I think you'd rather be on the other side. You talk about dating and relationships too much for you to not want to be LOL. All you go home to is a fish? Damn! CG your apt complex won't let you have a dog or cat? They make better companions than a fish.

Just because I'd like to be there sooner rather than later (and therefore talk about it) doesn't mean I want that life tomorrow. One of the reasons I don't have a dog or cat is because I don't have time for an animal that labor intensive. Between classes, work, practicum, research lab, and attempting (usually failing) to have a social life, I would not be home enough for a dog no matter how badly I want one. So while I do look at her family and her daughter (who is my goddaughter), I know that if I had that family right now, I would have to give up most if not all of what I just listed. In that respect, yes, I'm happy right where I am because I enjoy my life too much the way it is to really be bummed about not having it differently. Does that make sense?

Psst. I can only mod things in the Sigma forum. And even then, I can't ban people. Only the Supermods have banning abilities. Guess again.

I often feel like we're playing Clue in this thread. :o

Have you actually read the TOS? Also, while I don't feel like looking through that thread for my posts, I seem to remember I was mostly talking to somebody else about how her opinion wasn't the only one. You are saying that only your opinion is right. There is a difference.

How are you going to tell somebody their opinion isn't the only one? Any dumbass knows that. An opinion is just that. An opinion. It isn't a fact so it isn't necessarily right or wrong. Show me where I said that only my opinion is right.

When you said that somebody else's isn't?
