Haha! That's the first thing I did :). He hates jazz with a passion, and I went ahead and bought a whole bunch of Miles Davis CDs shortly after we broke up. There's also a Cold Stone Creamery right up the road, so there's nothing like eating a Cheesecake Fantasy while listening to Bitches Brew.

BTW, thanks to everyone who replied/pmed me. I'm feeling tons better now. It was just weird being single at first, but I'm enjoying it. I probably won't be dating for awhile, but that's okay.

Now if the Cold Stone closes, then there might be a problem...;)

depends on the person you were with. sometimes a month, sometimes 24 months. i guess it depends on how much you loved them if you did at all. with me it's usually 6 months before i start dating again after a relationship. if i'm with a person for at least a year it takes about 6 months before i mentally move on but sometimes a lot less if I whore out for a lil'while.

Recent discovery: I like boys who play hard to get.

Psychoanalyze this, bitches.

valkyrie 07-19-2005 06:41 PM

H, have you ever liked a nice, available boy who acted like he was interested in you without being an ass about it? ;)

That would be way too easy and not nearly enough emo. :p

Yes, but that was prior to the most recent ex. Haha. And there you have it -- no more need for psychoanalysis.

But honestly, I'm not just talking about emo makeout buddies who are assholes. I'm talking about just going out and meeting boys and liking them more because they're not being totally obvious about the fact that they might be interested. Seriously, the occasional sidelong "I might find you attractive" glance will drive me absolutely crazy. It doesn't matter what the guy is like; the way he acts can be enough to make or break his chances with me.

valkyrie 07-19-2005 10:20 PM

Well, I think you're totally normal. Haha.

No but seriously, a challenge is always more fun than something dorky and lame, which is what a guy is when he can't keep his shit together enough to be intriguing. It's more fun when neither of you are sure what the other is thinking, at least at the beginning.

I love getting a 5 year reunion email reminder from a girl who's name I don't know, why? Because SHE'S ALREADY MARRIED!

Geez, I swear, what is in the water back home that everyone graduates from college and then gets married. Thank god I went off to get my master's and took 12 months away.

Course, I'm moving back in two weeks, let's hope I don't catch whatever they got b/c finding mr. right can wait till i have a job, a condo, and some stability. Getting a master's degree in one year is a lot of work, i need some relaxing.

Turns out we weren't in friend mode and he was just shy and nervous.
We've been together for almost 2 months.

So maybe there’s not a lot to do
or maybe I’m just making myself confused
or maybe I’ve got nothing to lose
but if I get out of line,
just tell me you’re mine,
and how I’m better with you . . .

UKDaisy 08-04-2005 10:30 PM

So my boy toy that I have griped about a few times and gushed about other times leaves next week for IU to go to grad school. But today was the last day I"ll see him b/c I"ll be busy with sorority stuff. So I'm sad.

DolphinChicaDDD 08-05-2005 01:01 AM

I think I might call the boy I met at the concert to hang out this weekend. Maybe something will happen...or maybe not.

CUGreekgirl 08-05-2005 11:47 AM

The new boy and I promised each other the first night we met that we would never cheat on each other... this was before we had even had a date... am I the only one that finds this sweet, but a little strange.

Wow. The first thing that came to my mind is that both of you must have cheated in the past.

-You're going to do it again.

CUGreekgirl 08-05-2005 12:41 PM

Actually both his serious relationships ended because the girls cheated on him. And I've been cheated on before too.

Girl, you have a lot to learn. Guys say that to girls because we don't want to admit that we're the one who actually did the cheating. That and the fact that telling a girl you've been cheated on can leave a back door open in case you slip up somewhere along the lines and we can just blame it on the past issue of being cheated on.

Sorry, I just find it strange. I've never had a situation where we had to promise from the get-go that we wouldn't cheat.

Haha -- I thought that was sort of, you know, implied in the whole "relationship" deal . . .

It is really creepy. He could turn out to be this cuckoo controlling freak that says "If I can't have you no one will", become completely suspicious of all your male friends, follow you everywhere etc. If some guy said this to me, there'd be no first date.

Don't end up a bad Lifetime Movie!

I can see having this conversation at some point, when two people decide they want to be mutually exclusive. Hashing out the details of if they are only with each other, if they can still go on dates with other people, monogamy etc etc.

Me too - but hey, I guess different strokes for different folks.

AGDee 08-07-2005 12:28 AM

It is usually implied in the whole relationship deal, but that usually takes longer to develop than "the first night we met".

I heart lifetime movies.

So, I met up with the boy I previously made out with at a Tom Petty concert. Never expected to see him again, but he came out.

I think I like him, too. He was sweet. It must have been very imtimidating when his roommate left him at the bar with me and my 5 friends, and the 3 boys attached to one friend, but he stuck it out.

And he texted me when he was home, saying he had fun. Made me go "awwwwwwwwe."

I just got home from a date with the most adorablely adorable guy... I had forgotten that dating is so fun. :)

God! Did give you a foot massage or something? I'd hate for a woman to call me adorable, it'd make me think I did something wrong.

Adorable means HOT and I want to go out with him again. If a guy gave me a foot massage on a date he'd get the boot for kissing my ass too much ;)

Rudey 08-10-2005 10:04 AM

So you're saying you'd call Vin Diesel "adorable"?

OR

What about Dwayne Johnson?

OtterXO 08-10-2005 01:17 PM

well...if I thought they were HOT and wanted to go out with them then they would be "adorable". Unfortunately Vin's look doesn't really do it for me and the way that The Rock talks about himself in the third person doesn't really work for me either. So no, they are not adorable...:p However, the boy from last night = adorable. :)

There was a horrible day last spring when we were hungover and watched Lifetime Movies all day. Some of my tragic favorites were on. My roommate was thrilled we got digital cable and the Lifetime Movie Network, he plans to make a drinking game out of the themes.

Lady Pi Phi 08-10-2005 01:24 PM

Did I mention that I have the best boyfriend ever?!

I can't believe he bought me a computer for my birthday!

I also just met the family. And not just the parents. I met the entire family. I met his siter and brother-in-law and the aunts and uncles and grandparents and cousins. It was very overwhelming and terrifying, but I am so glad that I did it.
