I had the opportunity to see the presentation and was very impressed. Gamma Phi Beta brought several (6ish) staff members for the presentation and were very professional and well prepared.

Phi Mu is presenting next Monday, which I will also attend

Panhel will then vote on which organization to bring on.

Who else is presenting at Alabama besides D Phi E?

I believe we are the only group at this point.

Does anyone know when a decision from Arkansas Panhellenic will be released?

Heard that DPhiE may have been the only group to submit. Does anyone know more? Surely they wouldn't make DPhiE go through the process of a presentation if they are only interested group?

It may be that the Panhellenic wants to see the vision of the group for the colonization process. This would include learning about alumnae involvement/support in the area, how the organization plans to make an impact on such a large Greek campus, how much homework the group has done on that campus, the financial support of the organization etc. All these factors can play into the success that a colony would have.

Just like an org would not want to commit to a university in the context of not being able to succeed, a university may not want a group coming to campus that does not have all its ducks in a row either. They don't want the students of that campus to pledge, potentially get initiated, and then see the colony fail because the organization wasn't adequately prepared to succeed on that particular campus.

In other words, both sides need to do their homework to ensure that the match is right for a successful colony.

I believe we may have been the only group to submit a packet. It is not uncommon to do a presentation before being invited to colonize, even if one group submitted.

That seems unlikely unless all of the 6 other unrepresented chapters are fully committed for colonization in the next 1-2 years. But I guess with expansion going the way it has, that could be the exact problem. With DG's success, I think it bodes well for the next one and I wish you the best of luck!

With the costs involved with a colony and chapter house at Alabama, I can see where some chapters might not want to take on that expense if they have other universities in mind (Arkansas, LSU, etc)

6? I count 9 total:
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Alpha Sigma Tau
Alpha Xi Delta
Delta Phi Epsilon
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Kappa
Sigma Sigma Sigma
Theta Phi Alpha

...with four of them having previously been on campus. There are a lot of uninterested parties, apparently.

I know Theta Phi avoids colonizations where a house would be required. It seems like a very large commitment of resources that many organizations may simply be unwilling to make at this time, regardless of whether or not there are other large colonizations on the horizon.
