The whole situation was unfortunate, she would have been a very active member if she had just been allowed to live out. I understood that if they made an exception for one person, then they have had many other requests. She moved in the house in the fall, became ill by mid-September. Her illness was not obvious to most and personal in nature, so I think many doubted she was truly ill. She had signed the housing contract for the whole year, the only way they would let her break it was to pay the entire sum of the contract. She didn't the entire chapter to know her business, I think she felt like they really didn't care about her and that pushed her to terminate her membership.
I do wish the advisors of the chapters at IU could make more chapters see the benefit of having live outs. They are still dues paying members and if they want to live out and be active, why not let them. Maybe if more women understood the financial benefit of allowing a few sisters to live out, more women could receive bids.
