Just got back from seeing Fright Night. I liked it. Not so much as well as I did the original, though. It's just that the original was really suspenseful from the beginning all the way to the end. Plus, in the original, the vampire was hotter...lol.

This one is very suspenseful from the beginning, but then it got kind of cheesy at the end. I gave it 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Great movie. For the most part, I was....http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/109.gif through most of the movie. Sucks that it was in 3D.

Oh, and why are both vampires hotties? :p

So who's hotter, Fright Night vampire 2011 (Colin Farrell) or original Fright Night vampire? You decide. Colin Farrell is hot, but I like Mr. Original Fright Night Guy better. He's super hot.:p

It's like an Outbreak remake. AND I LOVED OUTBREAK!

I've never heard of this movie. I want to see it, too. I loved Outbreak, and I love pathology. What's amazing is many human diseases originated in animals, so this is a must see for me.

Apollo 18 starts Sept 2nd. It was supposed to start in April, but it got pushed back. Woohoo! This gonna be an awesome movie.:)

It was great. Remake of a 70's made for TV that is still considered one of the scariest movies ever. Guillermo Del Toro was the producer on this one and I am pretty sure came up with the concept changes. Now its a little girl the creatures are tormenting, not a grown woman. DH and I saw it last night. Creepy as HELL. I liked the backstory part in the beginning. There is a companion book/graphic novel out called Dont Be Afraid of the Dark: Blackwood's Guide to Dangerous Fairies. That's how I found out about the movie LOL! I bought the book at Borders as something to read at the beach and basically bought it because one of the co-authors was Guillermo Del Toro and I LUUUUURRRRVVVEEE him so much. The book was awesome and basically a prequel to the events of the movie. The movie's director did all the illustrations for the book. I reccommend both VERY highly.

Thanks for posting this. I'm gonna see it this weekend. Actually, this weekend is probably going to be a triple feature weekend.:p As far as I know, there are a lot of (what looks to be) good movies starting on the 2nd.

Thanks again for filling me in on this, because I was really hoping for it to be a good one. It's just that there hasn't been many good movies in August.

Susan Sarandon's ex? He was supposed to become the big superstar, not her, but we all know how that turned out.

On the thread topic I want to see Apollo 18 as well.

Wow, I didn't know he was her ex. I guess she and I have the same taste (in looks) in men. He's hot.:p

I hope Apollo 18 is good. You know the movies that look like they're going to be awesome, but they end up being the total opposite. I hope it's not one of those.

Apollo 18 was really good. I liked it a lot. I gave it 4 stars out of 5. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars out of 5 was because it was filmed the same way the Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch movies were filmed, and I don't really like that kind of picture. Other than that, I loved it and strongly recommend it. A must see.

Shark Night 3D, was pretty good. I enjoyed it. It was predictable, but at the same time it wasn't. Weird, I know, but there were some things that I wasn't expecting. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. I thought the sharks looked okay. I mean, it was kind of easy to tell they were computer generated. They looked too perfect, and the movements were not "shark like".

Are you afraid of the dark was awful. I spent more time laughing at some parts than I did jumping or covering my eyes. Actually, I didn't cover my eyes at all. I was really disappointed. I gave it 0 stars out of 5. Sorry ZetaGirl22.:(:p The lamp in the movie reminded me of the lamp my mom and dad bought for me when I was a little girl. I still have that lamp and it still works.:)

I cannot wait to see this. This is going to be one of the best movies ever. Red Tails starts in Jan. 2012
http://youtu.be/BpA6TC0T_Lw

I'm so excited. I love military history.:)

eta: and based on what I've read, the Tuskegee Airmen never lost a bomber. When the ME 262 saw combat for the first time, a lot of pilots were like "What the hell is that? It doesn't have a prop." lol --and I love the fact that it's going to be in the movie.

Contagion was awesome. 4 stars out of 5. I didn't give it 5 stars because it wasn't suspenseful enough. Awesome movie, though. Very accurate of how viruses work.:) Oh, and most of the movie was filmed in Minneapolis, MN. not far from the University of Minnesota, where I went to undergrad my last two years of college.:)

DrPhil 09-19-2011 12:52 AM

I liked "Contagion." The end was kind of...silent...so everyone sat in the theater expecting something else to happen. We were all a bit jokingly paranoid after the movie. This guy who sat rows behind us was tongue-in-cheek telling his wife about not touching the box of popcorn because they don't want to catch something. We all laughed. LOL.

One thing my friend and I wondered: Did they ever show what happened with the chef?

I was happy to see a new Underworld coming. :D I'm there!

PrettyBoy 09-19-2011 10:32 PM

Straw Dogs was pretty good. That movie is a good example of what a Jellyback man is. That dude was as soft as drug store cotton...smh.

I saw it, too. It was okay, but I liked Outbreak a lot better. It was more intense than Contagion. About an hour into it, it started getting boring. After it was over, I looked around the theater and it made me wonder what if something like this did break out. There's all kinds of bacteria in the air, so I find it interesting how we haven't been exposed to anything like that yet. If something like this does happen, I hope I'm one of the folks who's immune to it.

I don't think Contagion was meant to be intense like Outbreak. Outbreak is a disaster film whereas Contagion is classified a thriller. I think Contagion was more of a mystery in which we were expected to observe and ponder.

The bolded happened in our theater, as well. People were really quiet and just looking around. LOL. I think that is what Contagion will do that Outbreak will not.
