4 Radford Fraternities Suspended Because of a Goat?

This is perhaps the most bizarre cause I've seen to suspend any fraternity.

Quote:

A member of Sigma Pi fraternity said he found a goat that needed a home. He has ties to a local farm, so he was going to take the goat to the farm for him to live out his days.

The farm fell through, though.

So, the fraternity member sold the goat to someone else.

Reading this, my first thought was whether any of these executive directors or other national officers ever thought they'd be issuing national press releases concerning the whereabouts of some missing goat.

My second thought was with regard to the statement from Pi Lambda Phi. What the eff? That pivot was thoroughly bizarre. There's no need to bring law enforcement's alleged lack of attention to sexual assault into the equation. This is why we have national offices. Let the professionals handle those press releases. Pledge cooperation with the authorities, tell the public you take all of these allegations very seriously and move on. Attacking law enforcement tends to do more harm than good.

From the Pi Lam statement:

Obviously, many of us had not seen a goat before and in the ensuing excitement many pictures and Snapchats were taken of the goat that were subsequently shared on social media.

In the ensuring excitement? I’m sorry, but that’s hilarious.

Did they send the goat on a bus back to Chicago? ;)

When I saw the title of this, all I could think of was the Brady Bunch episode where Greg steals the rival school's goat and everyone thinks he has a girl in his room.

On another note, the "where have I gone wrong with my life" mutterings of the week have probably uniformly come from the RU police who had to investigate a missing random goat.

I like the "goat in question" phrase. The reporter is trying way tooooo hard to turn this into a serious news story.

All the hullabaloo has probably made the situation worse, with the current goat hider afraid to come forward.

I'm just hoping the poor goat didn't change hands just to become somebody's barbecue!

So........four fraternities are all suspended because a goat is missing?? I could *maybe* see Sigma Pi being "investigated" since it was their member that allegedly had possession of the goat in the first place. But all four fraternities?! Weird story.

AGREE!!!

This seems a lot of over kill by the school. As usual Greeks considered guilty with little or no due process being in blame!

When in doubt blame it on The Greeks.

Truly one of the most ridiculous cases of PC run amuck that I have heard of in a long time... and I am an animal rescuer!

I'm not sure this is what PC is.

First rule of Goat Club:

Don't talk about Goat Club.
