UT upperclassman rush?

Hi all! I transferred into UT in the spring as a sophomore and plan on rushing this fall as a junior since I didn't have the opportunity to as a second year. I'm super excited but also a bit intimidated because I heard it was really competitive as an upperclassman. I went ahead and registered with my local Panhellenic and have six rec letters lined up. Also I don't know if this would help me much but I just added a second major which means I will more than likely be at UT for an extra year than anticipated (meaning 3 total years in a chapter if I get a bid!)
I just wanted other people's input being that I am a bit late rushing! I am still so excited though!!!

You need to get recs for the other 8 chapters ASAP. If not, consider yourself cut from those houses. And rushing at a junior is so difficult that you do not want to close any doors because you didn’t have recs. Recs are the appropriate place for the chapters to be informed that you have 3 more years of undergrad remaining and hope to be an active, involved member for all of that time.

How did your spring GPA end up at UT? Above 3.5?

Did you make close friends with any Greek women this semester? Do they know you’re rushing?

As you might know, juniors don’t count towards quota but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get a bid as a junior. Most juniors with bids are women with stellar resumes, high grades, and lots and lots of tight connections in-house. Oh, and with recs. Good luck!

^^^I don't think people realize that upperclassman quota is provided to chapters but they do not necessarily HAVE to use it. It's there in case there are non-freshmen that they want to bid, but they are not required to fill it. It's not going to "SAVE" a non-freshman from being cut, if that makes sense.

I still think of the University of Tennessee as "UT."
