Rush at the University of Oregon?

Hi! I'm going to be a freshman at the U of O next year and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for sorority recruitment- I went to an information session at orientation and I'm super excited to join a sorority but I don't really have any experience with greek life at Oregon or otherwise (my mom and grandmother both were not in sororities). Just wondering how the process works and what tips you have! (ie. what to wear, should I get letters of rec, anything really!)

Hello! There are a couple of recruitment threads from U of O including my own!
Here is Tweddledee's:http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=116278

which is a great thread about keeping an OPEN mind. I'm involved as an advisor now and looking at all the chapters is so important. There is a definite cohesive feel about the campus and the chapters that are present there. Literally all the chapters are fabulous and have great members.

Letters of Rec are not nearly as important as they are at SEC schools, however they do not hurt. It is more important that they are from someone who knows you.

Generally there is a good website that is posted showing examples of what to wear. I'm having trouble finding it right now, but it may not be up yet as recruitment is still a few months off.

Love your username, TaterTot! Made me giggle remembering comedian Ron White's routine on the comedy network years ago about "Tater Salad/Tater Tot". Hint: you are at least 40 years old if you recognize this routine. I would say look it up but it was before UTube.

Good luck with recruitment. U of O sounds like they have a great Greek community and you would do well to be a part of any organization.

University of Oregon has a thriving greek life! I think that recruitment begins a week or two after classes start, so you have a chance to get settled in before the recruitment events start. The sororities are big and very active. Good luck to you. You'll just love it!! Can rain in September and October so bring with you some cute boots and a cute rain slicker!! Go Ducks!!
