Kansas AGD closure

"Epsilon Beta Chapter has received dedicated support from Fraternity volunteers and staff for many years. Challenges in achieving continued successful membership recruitment results have hindered the ability of the chapter to provide the quality membership experience for which we seek for any of our sisters."

An email statement was released. Always sad to lose ANY chapter.
It looks like they just had bidday.

Wow, AGD let them have formal recruitment, get new members and then closed them. That's a tough pill to swallow for those new members.

It sucks no matter how you slice it: either you close over the summer and never let the chapter try to prove they can turn things around in recruitment, close DURING recruitment and potentially release women who only had your chapter left as well as not get to experience Bid Day, or see how recruitment goes and then close after Bid Day if the chapter doesn't get enough new members to be viable. My heart goes out to them.

Since the chapter closed, are the new members bound for one year in regard to joining another sorority?

I'd hope not, but I don't know if it would be Panhellenic's policy or AGD's? These girls aren't to blame. Let them do COB.

NPC allows that when a chapter is closed uninitiated members are immediately released from their bid and allowed to pledge elsewhere.

Didn't see it listed, but Lambda Chi is recolonizing at U of Nevada-Reno, Texas State U, and U of Northern Michigan. They are starting a new colony at Christopher Newport University.

Illinois State's Panhellenic has invited 3 chapters to present in September. I am not sure if the groups presenting have been made public at this time.
