My favorites were:
1. Slide 2. Rockin Robin (why come my sister could NEVER remember whether she was supposed to go up/down or left/right first???) 3. Down By The River (with a hanky-panky, while the bullfrogs jump from bank to bank... ;) ) 4. Bo-Bo-Skee-Wotten-Totten (please tell me somebody remembers this) |

Man I used to love me some Down By the River....speaking of which, I was trying to teach a friend (in college :D) how to play the game, and one of the girls on my hall came to play and we ended up arguing for almost an hour cause she wanted to say that the song said..."while the BULLDOGS jumped from bank to bank" I'm like, WhenTH did Bulldogs start jumping from bank to bank? ...We decided to call in someone else off the hall and this girl said that she thought it said "Bulldogs" too! I was like, I don't know who taught them that version, but they needed to be slapped! Now I'm glad that I know someone else, other than the people I grew up with, that knows the correct version of the song! ;) |
I remember:
Slide Rockin Robin Miss Mary Mack Have-A-Coke & A-Smile |
POST THE LYRICS
How about you all post the lyrics so we can see because some of them sound familiar but if I had the words they might confirm for me if I really do know them.

Shame, Shame, Shame
Down in the Valley Rockin Robin Have a coke and a smile Oh, Sailor Pepsi Cola, number 9 Have you ever, ever, ever... See, See, my Playmate Oh mary Mack Ooh, these bring back so many memories |
I just played Slide with my little cousins when I was back in Illinois for Christmas. My sister and I could play Slide very fast for a long time. And now they got me doing "Miss Sue". They are so cute when they do it. Even my little two-year-old cousin can do all of "Miss Sue".
Others... 1. Down Down Baby 2. Have you ever, ever, ever... 3. Miss Susie (different from Miss Sue) 4. One about McDonald's (can't remember all of it) 5. Three sailors 6. See see my playmate 7. Rockin Robin That's all I can remember for now. |
Quote:
We also used to play two other games that really don't have names. I don't know if anyone else would remember them. 1. We played with the song that started "down by the river in the hanky panky, and the bullfrogs jump from bank to bank" 2. The other we played with four people and we called it "Mamma-said-a-he'd-a-said-a" Did anyone else play these ones? |
How could I 4get...
Ms. Lucy. Man, this one was my favorite. Is this the same as Miss Susie? I've never heard that one.
Anyway, here's the lyrics to Ms. Lucy: Ms. Lucy had a baby, she named him Tiny Tim She put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim He drunk up all the water, he ate up all the soap He tried to eat the bathtub, but it wouldn't go down his throat Ms. Lucy called the doctor, the doctor called the nurse Ms. Lucy called the doctor with the the alligator purse I also remember the McDonald's one too. |
My Favorites were:
