XAntX is going on tour!

So some of the GC regulars saw, but I got an internship working with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. To save explaining what exactly a drum corps is, here is this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_an...corps_(modern)

My position with the Bluecoats is an Administrative Intern, which is responsible for helping with food shopping and preparation, driving members and staff to the airport and hospital if need be, and any miscellaneous needs of the corps. I'll be spending May and early June in the Canton, Ohio area, and then hitting the road after that. I'm including a schedule of where the corps is performing throughout the summer. PM me if you can make a show and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you. Worst case scenario my fraternity's name can be used as a call.

June 16 - Akron, OH
Innovations in Brass
June 17 - Louisville, KY
June 20 - Battle Creek, MI
June 22 - Madison, WI
June 23 - Woodbury, MN
June 26 - Mankato, MN
June 28 - Merrilville, IN
June 30 - Michigan City, IN
July 1 - Muscatine, IA
July 3 - Cedarburg, WI
July 6 - Whitewater, WI
July 7 - Kalamazoo, MI
July 9 - Centerville, OH
July 11 - Bowling Green, OH
July 13 - La Crosse, WI
July 14 - Minneapolis, MN
July 15 - Rockford, IL
July 19 - Denton, TX
July 20 - Houston, TX
July 21 - San Antonio, TX
July 24 - Dallas, TX
July 26 - Little Rock, AR
July 27 - Murfreesboro, TN
July 28 - Atlanta, GA
July 29 - Charlotte, NC
July 31 - Warrenton, VA
August 3 - Allentown, PA
August 5 - East Rutherford, NJ
August 6 - Massillon, OH
August 7-11 Indianapolis, IN

Just kidding. Are you going to UNT and SMU? Or is this non-collegiate?

XAntoftheSkyX 03-25-2012 10:05 PM

It is non-collegiate, but seeing as the shows are done on football fields, I would suppose they would be there. I'm 90% sure the Denton show is at UNT

Cool beans. That's awesome, man. Congrats on the internship.

My section leader freshman year of high school was in the pit for the Bluecoats for a few years. Awesome corps, great opportunity! Have fun!

Congratulations XAntX! I hope you have a great time on the tour, especially in the Midwest.

Bluecoats are in the circuit that Phantom Regiment is in, right?

XAntoftheSkyX 03-25-2012 11:22 PM

Yes Dee, same circuit and division.

But yeah, touring life for a member is a little like summer vacation when you are in middle school. No concept of time, it's just time passing indiscriminately by. You're cut off from the real world, and your life revolves around high school gyms, fields, and busses.

Cool :) Maybe I can make a Michigan show. I don't know any Lakeshoremen anymore though. They all got old!

Also, the last Dallas one was at a high school. Just random info.

Also, come to the other side of Michigan!!! D: D: D:

I guess I'll just have to come to Texas. *taking the DART train with k_s*

Wishing you the best of weather during the schedule, XAntX. :)

Moons ago, I always knew it was time to return to college when our local PBS station aired the yearly drum-and-bugle competitions. California teams  with many props often won.
