University of Hawaii - New Chapter

Not sure if this was mentioned here yet/before, but for the first time in 25 years there is another NPC Chapter colonizing at the University of Hawaii at Manoa! UH will now have two chapters, Alpha Gamma Delta and Phi Mu!
In the past there were many local sororities in addition to Alpha Gam but in the recent past (15years?) there has been Alpha Gam and one other local sorority.

It's been a long time coming; I know when I was an active collegian we hoped another Chapter would join us. Issues with getting the school to sign on, the cost of sending an expansion team out there, and concerns regarding how hard it was for us to keep steady numbers kept that from happening. There has been a shift on campus in recent years with more & more women being interested in Greek Life and because of that, another Chapter is joining the mix!

I hope this turns out to be a great thing for Phi Mu AND Alpha Gamma Delta. I'm nervous for my sisters since they've never had NPC competition before, but I hope things change/improve/etc for the better; for them and for the campus.

Alpha Gamma Delta will conclude recruitment with Bid Day on Sunday 9/6. From what I've heard, Phi Mu will be waiting to start their recruitment/expansion process until that week.
Their own Bid Day will be Sunday 9/20 after a few days of meetings/interviews.

I wish I was there to be part of it all!

If you have any say at all, press them to be PANHELLENIC. A rising tide raises all ships and all that. Snarky reduces the strength of both chapters and teamwork will grow both. Even when they stole that rush crush from you.

We are excited to be joining our Panhellenic sisters.

Good luck to both Alpha Gam and Phi Mu!

Congratulations to Phi Mu on colonization and all the best to AGD :)

It's so great to see another NPC on the island. I still haven't come across any AGDs while here, but school just started this week, so hopefully I run into a few sorority members! Even as an alumna, I try to wear my letters as much as possible. Perhaps I'll see a few Panhellenic sisters soon.

Congrats to Phi Mu!

Thanks ladies!

ASTalum: They're definitely there! They should be tabling at Campus Center this week; probably right near Jamba Juice. I know in recent years they made big wooden letters and use those at the table so keep an eye out! I'm sure they'd love for you to stop by and say Hi =)

Wow- how exciting!

Congratulations to Alpha Gamma Delta. I hope there will be a get together after our colony starts.

Always like to hear about a colonization! Much love to my Macon Magnolia Sisters!

According to FB, AGD welcomed 45 new members at Bid Day yesterday...bringing chapter total to 60-70?

Always nice to hear that so many women are interested in Panhellenic and see a campus grow!

Alpha Gam has been on that campus for a number of years. The OP is referring to the news that Phi Mu is now colonizing the campus and AGD will not be the sole NPC sorority.

And I wanted an Alpha Gamma Delta to announce the wonderful recruitment numbers.

I'm late on posting this, but Alpha Gamma Delta at Univ of Hawaii at Manoa received 45 New Members!!!! I think this is the biggest class since colonization!!! So proud of my chapter!

I'll try to remember to post Phi Mu pictures once they have their Bid Day this weekend and post pictures on Facebook or Instagram.

Oh, I THINK chapter total is near 80.
I only day this because one of the actives previously mentioned that before this new member class, they were somewhere near 50.
I don't know if that was including inactive sisters or not, so I took it from 50 to 40 ... Either way, even 50 total INCLUDING new members would be amazing!!
We were barely at like 25 when I graduated haha
