Encouraging Letter

Dad of a freshman sorority girl and I know absolutely nothing about greek life.

I have been asked to write a letter of encouragement for my daughter as she embarks on this new chapter in her life and I have no clue where to start.

Can anyone offer any pointers, not looking to embarrass her on this special day?

Thanks in advance

Proud Dad

Our chapter had parents write letters which were read as part of the Senior Send off. You should just tell her how proud you are of her for building the life she is embarking on. Tell her where you hope her journey takes her and how you will be there to support her every step of the way. You can let her know that this is the opportunity to build lifelong friendships.

Just write a heartfelt message that shares how proud you are of her. She will love it!

Look her sorority up on Wikipedia and include items from her group’s motto and things you can glean from their non-secret items that can be included on a Wikipedia page.

Make sure you know what they want if they're going to read it aloud!

When my oldest AOII was being initiated, they wanted a humorous letter to and about her that they could read aloud. She later told me that unfortunately, the chapter had laughed their butts off but then all the parent letters were like that.

So our youngest AOII's chapter(different state) called and asked for a letter and I assured them I knew how to do those. Then they called back and asked for one for my niece too because her mom hadn't sent one; I sent a funny one for her too.

After initiation, my youngest one called up and said, "MOMMMM! Everybody else had these sweet, serious letters from their parents and y'all sent those funny, embarrassing ones!! How could you?"

Whoops.
