HUGE

With a drop like that, I wonder if a large number of PNMs withdraw right before Prefs.

I've heard that they do.

I can't imagine that it would not! Is this the first year for going from 9 to 2? That just seems unbelievable!

Does anybody know how many PNMs are registered for 2020 IU recruitment? And how this compares to years past?

define "huge"? yes there are drops. however the harshest cuts with RFM occur earlier, (16 to 9 is harsh) so if you get to 9 party... plus most PNMs don't have full schedules at that point anyway.

as for the # registered that start recruitment, we won't know the start number until Wednesday. We will have grade cuts and those that just decided to not come back early.

I thought it was about time for IU recruitment. I always look forward to hearing what's happening with the Hoosiers.

I was gonna throw this in the OP but here it is

To the PNMs lurking this board, keep and open mind and remember all 2000 recruitment videos you watched in preparation. You'll find your home.

To the parents, you will find wise words to give your daughters throughout the coming days, and you're the MVPs of all this

To the advisors/alumnae, y'all are rock stars for all the work you're doing for the chapters and you'll have a successful recruitment

To the sisters on the other side for the first and last time, you got this. And hopefully for those of you who don't have a little yet you'll find yours!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

One of the many benefits of reading greekchat is knowing that deferred IU recruitment means pnms need to intentionally socialize/communicate with many persons, greek or no, students/teachers/townspeople, during their Fall semester. Doors and windows to sisterhood may open in unexpected ways through early, thoughtful mingling and dialog.

What reason did IU give for the change at Prefs from max three, down to max two, homes?

BBH 01-07-2020 08:29 AM

It changed a few years ago. My D went through rush in 2018 and that was the first year they went to 2 for Pref. round. I don't remember the reason but I think it was around the number of people that were placed in either their first or second choices. Not enough fell to the 3rd option. I could be wrong on that but I seem to remember reading something along that line.

Even though rush at IU isn't as bad as it used to be, it is still very stressful more because of that other ranking website and the whole tier system mentality.

I know she is heading back to school today to get ready. This will be her last rush since next year she'll be doing her oversea's program. I only know 1 PNM this year but they happen to be a legacy to my D's sorority so I'm watching to see what happens there.

IU moved to two preferences based on the guidelines set forth by NPC regarding structured recruitment. IU now abides by all of the guidelines including quota, QAs, snap bids, etc. The only thing that IU does not have that most campi have is campus total. So theoretically a sorority that makes quota could still have informal recruitment and take as many women as they want. Not that any group does that, but it is still theoretically possible.

22-16-11-6-2 would be far better.

I agree-but is that even an option with NPC recruitment? And I guess it could just be another conversation round. Currently 22 is "open house"- but no house tours, then philanthropy round, then sisterhood, then preference. Decorations are only allowed for sisterhood and preference.

also, while the PNMs are going to 22 chapters the actives are required to host 24 parties; this way the PNMs get 2 breaks thoughout the two days but the chapters don't.
