UCLA Pi Beta Phi passes away
Very sad news. She was a Senior member of Pi Beta Phi.
http://www.dailynews.com/general-new...on-of-interest Our UCLA Chi Omega chapter president reported that, at an all-row presidents meeting today, every sorority member will wear the "Go Greek" shirt (no individual sorority designation on those) with a maroon ribbon to show support for Pi Beta Phi. The semester kick-off "Bruin Bash" is tonight, if students decide to go, sorority members will all sit together as a Panhellenic group. Recruitment starts on Thursday. No word if this will alter the schedule. |
What a tragic story. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
|
Aww....how awful. :(
|
Incredibly tragic story, but that's a great show of Panhellenic support from the campus community.
|
That poor girl. :'( Any word if it was arson?
|
Very sad. Prayers for the young woman's family and friends.

Oh this is so sad. My heart goes out to her family/friends, her chapter, and the UCLA Greek community. What a devastating story.

Article from UCLA's newspaper, the Daily Bruin:
http://dailybruin.com/2015/09/21/sor...-member-death/ The Pi Beta Phi house is located between the DG house and the Chi O house. The apartment building she lived in is on the other side of campus in the block behind the DTD and SAE house. Update on the investigation: http://abc7.com/news/ucla-student-id...gation/996763/ This chapter also lost a member in June 2011, when the new graduate was killed after being struck by a taxi cab just days after graduation. Many members knew both women. Prayers go out to the UCLA Pi Phi's. Recruitment starts tomorrow. I'll be there and I'm sure it will be somber. |
How horrible! My sincere sympathy to all Pi Beta Phis and their families on such a loss.

I read the article this morning. A tragic loss. Prayers and thoughts to the women of that chapter.
Also, there was a fraternity brother at WSU who slipped and fell last week at a fraternity house (although not his own). Last I heard, he was in critical condition. I apologize if I inserted this on the wrong board; I'm just a few days new here. |
Well, while we are at it I'm not sure if it was posted on GC back in August when the accident happened, but sadly the young woman who is the President of the Pi Beta Phi chapter at at the University of Oregon was badly injured in a terrible fall while hiking. I believe that she has partial paralysis. But, she will survive and is fighting hard!
So sorry for the sisters of Pi Beta Phi on all of this sad news! My thoughts go out to the young man at WSU as well. Hope he is recovering from his injuries. |
I also know that recruitment at UCLA is just getting underway. In light of the terrible tragedy that unfolded earlier this week with the suspicious death of a member of Pi Phi , I was wondering if ChioLu could let us know how the greek community is holding up? Keep us posted on recruitment and results. Best of luck to all UCLA chapters!

I know this tragedy is bringing the Panhellenic community closer together.
I'll post #s after Recruitment. UCLA had a record number of women registered - 1065. |
