Typical A.C.T. Score

I'm curious as to what the average score is for people taking the A.C.T. test now.

What is the average score in your region or at the school(s) you are either applying to or attending?

I believe the average is a 21 for most freshman entering my alma mater. When I first took the test in my junior year I think that was the average score for students in my area. I got a 25. The minimum score to be considered for any scholarship was a 21 ACT and a GPA of 3.2 or better.

These are the stats for the high school graduating class of 2006. Page 12 has the national percentiles.

I had a 31, but I don't think that's "typical."

I had a 28, but I would have done much better if I wasn't sunburt beyond belief at the time. Although, I couldn't believe that Trig actually UPPED my score.

33 :D

27 was the low end of what the schools I looked at (Midwest, private and large public) were expecting if you wanted scholarships. I don't know what the actual minimum or average was.

My daughter got a 29 - she took it in April. I offered to get her a tutor for math (her achille's heel) but I don't think she wants to go through the torture again!
She is in the 94% percentile nationally; 96% in the state.

Here is Princeton Review's list of colleges and universities with 25 and 75 percentile ranges for various standardized tests.

I got a 34, but I think the grading scale has changed. My alma mater's middle 50% (according to Princeton Review) is 27-33.

I took it 10 years ago so take that with a grain of salt.

I got a 32 back in 1994. My friend, who was second in our elementary school graduating class, got a 29.

Seriously. I don't think my middle school even ranked.

Mine didn't. I know I was in the top 15 in the district, but I only know that because they pulled us out to form an Honors class.

I got a 28 and a 31 on the reading part in 1994 when I took it.
I have NO idea what that means now..

BigRedBeta 10-12-2007 10:46 PM

I got a 34 in 2000. I still have one friend who got a 33 on it that I hold my score over his head (simply because he's the most competitive person I know and it still bugs him ;))
