AJC Article about UGA Recruitment: Hey GC!

LOL! We got a mention.

Quote:

On greekchat.com, an online network for people in sorority and fraternity life, a mother of a UGA student anonymously posted this after she said her daughter was not invited back to any sororities after the second round of recruitment last year:

"She was devastated, is devastated, and because she is in so much pain — so am I." Her daughter, she said, has "had her share of disappointments and handled them well."

"But, this has been more than she can process — cut by all [the] sororities in two days when her visits seemed to go so well."

Her daughter's experience is rare — most of the women receive invitations to at least some of the sorority houses at the end of the six-day, four-round period.

The decisions may establish a young woman's social schedule before she sets foot in her first UGA classroom; the decisions can send girls into fits of joy or despair and, sometimes, send their moms running to the Internet.

How does John feel about Greekchat becoming a "primary source" for parents and children?

ROTF

Do you mean coddle some of the ones that were cut because they were too good?

I think that is soooo funny.

So do brightly colored tshirts! But I guess with a campus that big, they need something different.

I thought about that too, and I have no explanation.

Maybe it has something to do with wearing the same thing all week? I'm sure they still have to wash them, but maybe they can throw them all in the same load at night.

I mean, who WOULDN'T want to wear one of these babies?

^^ If I've learned nothing about college campuses in the past (mumble, mumble) years, I've learned that what's fugly on one campus is status at another.

I can remember the first time I heard that DG's wore sailor hats on one campus, I said, "Oh, how humiliating!" Now, I take it for granted.
