Final count at Iowa State was 839 PNMs. Recruitment officially starts tomorrow, but I dont think the first round of parties is actually until Sunday.

I would love to know what is driving such high numbers of PNM's? USC began recruitment at 1583, Alabama well over 2000......what are the thoughts out there?

There has been lots of discussion about that here. In short (I think) 1-kids grow up totally over-scheduled and every moment of their lives regimented, from play dates to sports and other clubs. So it makes perfect sense to them to understand and appreciate organized friendship-building. 2-Enrollment in universities is up. 3-Schools have started getting on board with the value of Greek life (Greek members donate to universities in higher numbers than their unaffiliated counterparts) and therefore participate more in the marketing of rush, 4-RFM has made the rush process easier to deal with and more successful.

With larger NM/initiate numbers over past seven years has there been corresponding higher interest by these women, once graduated, to immediately serve their fraternal organization?

Also reporting a 60% increase for fraternity recruitment.

Wow! Chapter total is (was) 90 with quota last year being 26. So if all 362 PNMs make it to preference, quota would be 72 (362 PNMs divided by 5 chapters).

Good thing Kappa Delta will be re-colonizing this fall.

Tennessee final number starting was 905! This is a very slight increase from last year.

I think this generation of students (Milleniels)(sp.) are more service oriented and more oriented towards social groups than the one preceding it. (Gen X).

GLOs appeal to them because they are social and because they do service.

Formal is over now, and Sigma Sigma Sigma took 58, AOII 59. I don't know about the other groups yet. Seems like a lot of PNMs didn't make it to preference.

Some more # for Murray State:
AGD - 57 (per facebook -- they have a pic with a sign "Welcome to the Nut House"! Squirrels. Nuts. Cute. LOL)
ASA - 58 (per facebook)
ADPi - haven't found anything

Clemson Greek Life tweeted last night that over 1000 girls are registered for recruitment. If no girls dropped that would make quota 83! It was 64 last year so barring massive dropouts quota will definitely be increasing.

MaryPoppins 08-21-2013 08:53 AM

Ole Miss has over 1,200 currently registered for FFR.

Those pledge numbers are twice the quota from last year (26). Chapter total was 90 so I suspect that is going to go up as well.

Using these numbers, 72 women did not receive a bid either because they withdrew or they were released. That is an overall placement (from those that signed up to receiving a bid) of little over 80%. I don’t know how that compares to other years, but I wonder how many women may have withdrawn with the intent (hope) to pledge Kappa Delta when they re-colonize later this semester.

468 signed up for recruitment at Western Kentucky University.

ISUKappa 08-22-2013 09:34 AM

I helped out with pref at Iowa state last night and quota could be around 50. Quota last year was right around 40, so that's quite a jump. I hope it doesn't rain for bid day activities this afternoon.
