Hi all. I am excited for convention this year. Since I live in Michigan, I have been debating going. I was wondering if those who have gone in the past had some insights on spending. I have looked at the cost of the hotel via priceline, but cannot remember the fees and such. Thanks!

I don't think that the hotel convention rates have been posted yet. They usually don't become available until the spring of convention year.

One thing to remember, if you are a delegate or alternate delegate you are required to stay at the convention hotel.

I've been to many conventions, its always a fun and informative experience.

Hello all! It has been forever since I have been on the boards. I am attending convention as the delegate for Pinellas County Alumnae Assoc. Who else is going? Is there any traditions or fun things that aren't listed. I have been to other national conventions and each state or group brought little things that you trade with other groups.

I'll be there. This is my 20th convention.

Well .. things change from convention to convention. Rose banquet has been first come first seated some years and other years people grouped together and "reserved" a table.
Something to ask about at registration.

Be sure to register as soon as you can after checking into the hotel that way you get
your convention program and agenda immediately and can plan.

For meals on your own, try to go with groups and try different local places.

Meet as many people as you can. Try to sit at meals with new people that you don't know.

Be prepared to sing.

I am flying in Tuesday morning because I have never been to Chicago. So we don't get a schedule until check-in? Typically how many meals are we on our own for? I know that we have Friday afternoon free if we don't go to the baseball game but is there a lot of other down time?

This schedule tells you what to expect as far as meals. The awards banquet on Friday night is usually heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts. so you may want some 'real food' before or after.
