June 2006 Beta Journal: (Red Hatters and Beta Sigma Phi)... crazy
 

Have you seen the June 2006 Beta Journal?? Why is BSP
advertizing the name of RH organization?
WE have enough sisters in our organization who have fabulous ideas for games, socials, parties etc.... we do not need ideas, that attach RH to Beta Sigma Phi.
I once, about 2 years ago, asked a group of the RHatters about
themselves, they invited me to join, and I told them I was a BSP,
some told me they were BSP once, but they dont want all the offical
meetings, ways and means or service project. No structure they said.
Which is fine for them, they like to get all gussied up in purple
and red hats,hoot holler and shout, and flaunt around everywhere,
which is fine for them, they like all that type of attention. Not
personally my thing.
Now, just a couple weeks ago I had the chance to chit chat with
another group of RHers. They told me that they will be doing ways
and means and service projects, is this true of all, I do not know.
Just expressing that it is felt by many in Beta Sigma Phi, that we
do not want to "get the word out" for Red Hatters, they do that
enough on there own LOL!! Besides they are not going to promote our
good name either, and why should they! Just do not feel it is to
our best interest. Go to the Journal and see for yourselves.

No offense but I am planning on joining RHS when I become of age. But, I also plan to stay involved with BSP as well. One can never have too many friends. :)

No offense taken. Duel group memberships are great!! All have a great time in their own ways!!

Just feel our Beta Journal is BSP, and we should keep RH at RH publications and visa versa. RH will not post BSP anyway.


Also duel members, the RH have actually came to BSP functions wearing their Regalia. Many of us just ignore, but it is rude and I dont think BSP should wear there pins, roses and colors to RH function either, that would be entirely as rude.

Just my opinion is all.

I joined Phi Sigma Sigma in 2000. I joined TBS is 2001. I have always worn my two badges when I wear them - unless it is an initiation or I forget.

I joined BSP in 2002. I wear all three of my badges at the same time. This past summer at my Phi Sig convention, I wore all three. TBS and PSS are both big on the "No other pin should be higher than the badge of ______ - fill in TBS or PSS" At Phi Sig convention I wore my sphinxhead higher. At TBS things I wear my TBS badge higher. At BSP things I wear my BSP badge higher - all out of respect for the orgs.

I am PROUD of my orgs - I like to wear my badges. People get all interested when they see the plethora of pins on me - "Whats that?! Whats that dangle mean? Whats BSP?" It got a lot of talking going on at Phi Sig convention - I got to explain BSP to my Phi Sigs and get them talking about it... it was fun!

The archon (president) of the chapter I advise wore her SAI pin too - we are proud greek geeks.

I see no problem with a RH being a BSP and vice versa - and wearing pins etc to BOTH. If they have the time to do both and do both well - more power to them. If they wear one to the other and slack, or do nothing or complain - then thats a problem!

I see where you're going Sassie - and I think its kinda like what I talking about in that last paragraph. Dont come and advertise your RH stuff if you wont do the same for BSP - dont come show off and do nothing while you sit in your RH stuff - but if you're a good member of both - more power to you!

Well you might get away with more of it in the college sororities, and times change fast, but my opinion is respect for each, at the appropriate times.
Including the bombardment of commercial sales of groups items. Sometime the tactics are a bit too much, I guess since I am over 50, I get this more :)


Just to let ya'all know, you do not have to wait till you are old enuff for RH. You can be Pink Hatters till you are of age, and still reap in their play and games... that didnt come from me LOL
