New Member Looking For A Chapter!
Hi everyone, I am on here because I need a little advice on finding a chapter. I am 23 and live in Michigan. I am a member at large for Beta Sigma Phi. I paid my dues and join in February of this year (2015). But I still have yet to find a chapter. Let alone when I have spoken to a few it just seemed like they took their time or didn't really hear from them anymore. I have though about creating a new chapter of my own but I don't have really any women that feel they have the time to build a chapter with me. They just either really don't have the time to do it or don't see the importance in it and just don't take it seriously. What should I do because I truly would like to find a chapter. I would rather find a chapter than create one. Does anyone on here have any good pointers for me?
Thank you for taking the time out to read this.

I swear I read this same exact post in another thread.

She is following the advice of another Beta Sigma Phi, who told her to post her message in the Beta Sigma Phi forum, which this is.

Wait.... another Mimi and BSPhi?

Yes, the other Mimi responded to one of her posts a few months ago.

Hi! Finding a chapter in Beta Sigma Phi can be tricky. Many chapters are small and meet in members' homes or in small local venues such as restaurants. From a logistical standpoint, this fact keeps chapters from growing. Beta Sigma Phi International strongly encourages our chapters to actively gain new sisters through dynamic rushing programs. Yet, the wait can be frustrating in some communities where chapters aren't currently expanding.

An online chapter is another option. I've been enjoying my online chapter for about 13 years. It's fun and follows the traditional Beta Sigma Phi format very closely. However, online membership will not provide the face-to-face connections and activities that you might be looking for. The flexibility is great though, and it is fun to "meet" sisters from around the world.

As you mentioned, you can start a chapter. I chose that option in 2002 as a 23 year old grad student. It was a fabulous experience! I learned so much about the sorority and about myself! I gained wonderful sisters. I am still in touch with most of those women, and I am grateful that each one came into my life. The process is straight forward and low cost. I felt so proud and happy on the day that our founding sisters received our pledge ritual.

I am happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Is there a BSPh chapter in Savannah, GA?

Xidelt 08-11-2017 03:12 PM

The chapter locator on the BSP website isn't working for me, but here is the facebook page for a chapter in Atlanta. Perhaps get in touch with them and they could tell you about other chapters in the state?

The locator hasn't worked for a long time.

PirateDog 08-15-2017 12:23 PM

I did that just now- thanks!!!
