Hello there, Let me start by saying my husband and I were never greek. However our daughter wanted this experience. So we supported it. My daughter is on the recruitment side of rush. I did see that post on the FB page. There are others on another thread on that page about how their daughters also dropped after pref. They proceeded to say how it hurt when those two sororities they dropped offered them snap bids. I have also seen the Greekrank site. These things that are said by IU's "finest" (incl. Moms and dads) about some of our daughters and sons chapters are awful. I am glad my daughter has found a great group of girls. But it is so distressing to see the comments. I am so very disappointed in the greek community at IU.

It is foolish to believe that that site represent the IU greek community. Most of the people there aren't even in the greek system and probably don't go to IU (probably Purdue kids :) ). It's mostly people there just to stir stuff up.

I would like to believe that. But however I know ALL the sororities check it. Also have kept a occasional eye and information gets posted regularly before it even is released. So it is well visited by the Greeks at IU. It also is VERY active. It is just to stir stuff up. But at what cost?

Back to pairs- it is random at many universities and works just fine. The IU sororities were against RFM at one time. As my Panhellenic sister said, at least the sororities are trying to initiate change.

There is a lot of risk that week -- Asking them to pair with a house they don't really know is a big ask. There is no way IFC would agree to that ask.

By constantly mentioning ďriskĒ it really doesnít reflect well on the people involved in the Greek system. And considering there have been lots of stories over the years about this or that risk management nightmare happening during little 5 week, asking a group youíre acquainted with doesnít seem so foolproof either.

I saw that also. A few moms were quick to comment and put her in her place.

Oh a happy note.......itís bid night! Anxiously awaiting good news. DDís first choice is SK and her second is TPA. Since I canít post on Facebook.....yíall are stuck with my excitement. Sorry in advance.

I saw that too. She was very obnoxious! It looks like she has already disaffiliated herself from that facebook page. And I have the impression that her first language is not English, probably German? I suppose maybe this whole process was new to her, but no reason for her to be rude.

I think you're right. I wonder if she was a short-term member on the site. Honestly, I think most of the moms and dads I've seen posting on there have done their best to be considerate of everyone on the page, realizing that there are all sorts of people in all sorts of situations. I hadn't really seen anyone that outright rude until then.

Well according to IU's Panhellenic instagram page rho gamma reveal is happening right now. So bids should be opened very soon.

Yay, for your daughter, IUmom20. I hope you get a happy phone call in about 25 minutes:) It sounds like your daughter stuck it out and "trusted the process". My D is a sophomore on the other side, and she is at her house getting gussied up and pumped up to greet her new sisters and welcome them home. There are girls that will be greeting your girl with a lot of energy very soon too!

That IU FB page was getting very dramatic. Some mamas forgot their manners over there :( We are all so sensitive about our kids and their feelings, and with that I think they let common decency get away from them a little bit. Kudos to those that tried to straighten them out.

My D gave me numbers for how many they took which should give an idea for most chapters as they are maxed out. I can share after the bids come out if anyone wants to know.

The event was pushed to 8 and I think they usually get their bids about an hour later. have to go through the rho gam reveals, etc
