Alpha Delta Pi, Phi Mu, & Macon, GA
Even though there was not an active Phi Mu chapter on my campus, as an Alpha Delta Pi, I have always felt close to the sisters of Phi Mu. Every now & again, I see it here, too. Is this just me, or do we all feel those old (OLD!!) bonds of Macon, Georgia?
Do other Alpha Delta Pi's and Phi Mu's feel the same way? Just wondering... honeychile |
i do!!!! i hear you honey!!! see my post to texas*princess!!! i feel like we are one big group, even tho things are not exactly the same. the groups got along well when things began, so why shouldn't we????

I feel the love
Although there is not an active chapter of Alpha Delta Pi on my campus, I know and love several ADPi's from other schools, and I feel we have a lot in common with that sorority as a whole. I understand exactly what you're saying! It's got to be our similar roots. Lion Love! :)

The ADPi chapter and my chapter are not very close here, but I have friends from all over who are ADPi's and it's so awesome to know that we share a little bit of history.
|
We do not have an ADPi chapter here, but I have a few really good friends who are ADPi's. I think its great, I have always felt we share a part of something very special. Wesleyan was a special school who gave birth to two unique organizations. I think it is because of our beginning that we feel close to this other organization.
:D Lion Love!!!! |
We're the best and we're not Lion!

Quick Question:
I know that Kappa Kappa Gamma and Pi Beta Phi are known as the Monmouth duo... Is Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu known as the Macon duo (or any other duo)? Please let me know. Here is a related thread: Is there a connection between Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu? |
CutiePie2000, I had never seen that thread before - thank you for being sweet enough to share it! To my knowledge, there isn't a nickname for the closeness of Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu, but I think there should be!
The heritage of both Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu are so entertwined, from being the first & second secret societies for college women, to Georgia Wesleyan & Macon, to this funny bond that is still there over 151 years later! I think we ought to try to think of one (did someone suggest the Macon Duo?) and try to spread it among our chapters. As I said in my opening post, there wasn't an active Phi Mu chapter on my campus, but I still feel a bond! |
Okay, for those with really too much time on their hands (!), I wonder if there are two chapters of ANY two sororities that have the same chapter name?
I don't exactly know of any, but it would be like: Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi - Georgia Wesleyan College Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu - Georgia Wesleyan College and of course, the Farmville Four, the Monmouth Duo, etc. Any takers? |
Well the Monmouth duo won't have the same names because Pi Beta Phi names their chapters by Greek letter within state. So Pi Beta Phi's (and please correct me if I'm wrong) first chapter is Illinois Alpha.
I've always liked the chapter names that were also names of other sororities ... ie Delta Zeta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at CW Post .. talk about confusing |

At my alma mater of University of British Columbia, we have 3 of those: Alpha Gamma Delta: Delta Zeta chapter Delta Gamma: Alpha Phi chapter Delta Phi Epsilon: Delta Gamma chapter |
Kappa Alpha Theta and Alpha Chi Omega
Both Alpha - DePauw University :) I'm kind of peeved that I only learned this a year or so ago, seems like something they'd want to point out in NM education! Greekgrrl |
Brenau Univ. has Mu chapters of Alpha Gamma Delta and Phi Mu.
|
I don't know if they still do it, or if it was a chapter tradition, but we always said the name & place of a chapter instead of "here" during meeting roll call. The prized ones (everyone had one particular chapter) was "Alpha Delta, Colby College, Waterville, Maine" and "Delta Pi, Ripon College, (I forget where!) Wisconsin".
Now, I'm thinking that it would be cool to have Delta Zeta, Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, or any of the other two letter sororities! |
