Kappa Selects RIF as Our National Philanthropy

Kappa Selects RIF as Our National Philanthropy

Kappas have always been committed to sharing our time, talent and treasure with our communities, and at the 2004 Convention, we adopted RIF as our national philanthropy.

Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF), works to build a literate nation by helping young people discover the joy of reading. RIF's highest priority is to serve the nation's under-served children and families through the development and delivery of literacy programs and campaigns that motivate youth to read regularly.

Thank you for enthusiastically receiving the news of Kappa's new philanthropy partnership with RIF!

Here's how you can get started:
* Share the news of the partnership with your members. See Related Files - Sample RIF slideshow on the website listed below.
* Direct your members to our Web site and to The Key for detailed
information about RIF.
* Assure your membership that they do not need to stop supporting their local philanthropies in order to support RIF.
* Reinforce that the RIF partnership should not alter their continuing support for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.
* Select the way(s) in which your membership will support RIF. See options below in Related Files - RIF handouts on the website listed below.
* E-mail Tara Greco, Director of Public Relations at RIF, or call her at 202/673-0049 for a consultation and information about sponsoring a RIF program in your area.
* Secure coverage in local and campus newspapers when you participate in a RIF program or project. Be sure to mention RIF and Kappa Kappa Gamma!
* Record your hours of participation, the number of women participating, dollars spent and agencies/groups who benefited from the project.

Kappa Kappa Gamma/RIF is going to be a great partnership!
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

I'm so excited that we have a national philanthropy now, and that it's one so cool as this! I remember when I went to open house for the sorority's before my having joined one, I had really liked how Pi Phi's had a literacy related philanthropy... and now we have one!

I was so excited to hear about this as well! I am an English Ed major right now, and I am planning to get my master's in Reading Ed. My dream job would be to work with a non-profit literacy organization just like RIF. I can't wait to start working with them!

I am so happy we have a national philanthropy as well and that we can continue our work with other organizations. RIF is an awesome choice... especially since I am an elementary education major! Just another reason that I'msohappythatIama....

Thanks so much for posting this, imsohappythatiama. I think it's a great partnership and am excited to spread the word in my alum group!

I just wanted to reiterate these points, I know the chapter women I advise had questions about it after Convention.

* Assure your membership that they do not need to stop supporting their local philanthropies in order to support RIF.
* Reinforce that the RIF partnership should not alter their continuing support for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.

I know a lot of chapters have great philanthropies that they've done for a long time and I think they need to continue that, but there are so many fun and exciting ways your Philanthropy chair can incorporate RIF into your chapter's philanthropy efforts!

My chapter pres mentioned that Kappa had found a Canadian equivalent since RIF is not in Canada - does anyone know what charity that is?

Kappaloo, I PM'd you.

RIF ideas?

deleted because no feedback yet... and I don't want the info I provided (only because I was hoping to get good feedback) to bite me in the rear later on.
