Oregon State Acacia preparing to help storm victims

Fraternity preparing to donate, drive to and help in recovery in Henryville, Indiana

Henryville, Indiana was one of the towns hit hardest in last week's tornado outbreak. It was almost completely wiped off the map. Dozens of people died in the storm.

Acacia Fraternity located near campus on Northwest VanBuren Street saw the storm's aftermath on the news and decided that during spring break, they would pitch in and spend their free time helping with recovery.

Acacia's headquarters, located in Indiana, told the men in Corvallis that people there need anything and everything and that any donations or help would be welcomed. In about two weeks, at least a dozen of the fraternity members will pack up as many U-Hauls as possible and drive to Henryville, give out the donations and help clean up.

My son started graduate school in Louisville this year (seminary). It never occured to me that we were sending him anywhere near tornado territory, but that was apparently a completely incorrect assumption on my part. This tornado was the second tornado warning he sat through in a dorm basement.

At any rate, last weekend his church group went to Henryville to help with the clean up. The pictures he sent to us were unbelievable.

Kudos to this group for making the trip and helping out.

Glad to see the chapter getting good press for good work.
