I finished "Gone Girl" and watched the movie the exact same day that I read the last page. The film is better, at least for me it was.

Before that, I read Jhumpa Lahiri's "The Lowland". She is one of my absolute favorite authors; she uses such vivid detail that I always feel like I'm actually in India when I read her books. She also wrote "The Namesake".

I love dark, dramatic, near-depressing fiction ("The Road", "A Thousand Splendid Suns", "The Poisonwood Bible"), so I'm open to recommendations.

I'm reading Jason Priestley's memoir. I was a huge 90210 fan back in the day. It's good so far.

Jhumpa Lahir went to my high school. There was basically a shrine to her in the Library when The Namesake" came out.

"The Girl on the Train" has been getting lots of buzz. Anyone read it? I'm considering buying a copy.

i read the first few chapters of "Girl on the Train." Just couldn't get into it. will revisit later, because I assume it will get better. Otherwise, why all the fuss?

I read it (was 500+ in line when I first put it on hold at the library) and it was fine, but nothing near the hype I kept hearing. I guess I was expecting to be blown away. lol Get it from the library, and now that most of the hype is over you should be able to get it easily.

I just finished writing a novella. I have read that book so many times I'm about to pop. I need a palate cleanse with someone else's work!

Sycamore Row, by John Grisham.

No big surprises yet - Grisham has become the mind candy of the legal "thriller".
