Use of the equivalent looking Roman Letter...
 

What are people's opinion of documents that use the same looking letter in the Roman Alphabet in a list of Greek Letter Organizations online?

For example
1) Delta Zeta being the Greek Letter Delta followed by the Greek Letter Zeta, it is written as the Greek Letter Delta followed by a Roman letter Z or
2) Alpha Tau Omega being a Roman A, a Roman T and then a Greek Letter Omega rather than three Greek letters.

It does irritate me, and on Wikipedia whenever I find it, I correct it.

I'm not sure I follow you. I checked Wikipedia - Zeta, Tau and Alpha all have (in upper case) Greek letters that are identical to the Roman version. What am I missing?

I can’t say this is anything I’ve ever noticed, so it does not bother me. There’s no way it can be more annoying than “let’s use sigma instead of E to make it look Greek.”

They are Homographs. Look the same but aren't. If you go to the page about Zeta Tau Alpha on Wikipedia and search for the ZTA that you get typed on your keyboard, your search *will* find the place where it shows those letters from the roman alphabet as a nickname, but *not* the ΖΤΑ in the infobox because those are actual greek letters.

Right now, I'm more focusing on the cases where within a single "Word" it uses both. For example if Sigma Gamma Rho is done with a Greek Sigma, a Greek Gamma and the Roman letter "Pee".

or even more fun, Alpha Phi Alpha where one of the two A shapes is a Greek Alpha and the other is a Roman A. *shudder*

As it happens at this moment, I'm actually editing the page on the Television show "GREEK" and am going to make some changes to indicate that the name of the show was GREEK, and it was *stylized* as GRΣΣK.
