Wedding Gowns

Ok, so we have a thread about our engagements/engagement rings we want, so what about wedding dresses?

Share yours or the styles you like!

These are my three favorites right now:

Ok, so I generally don't go thinking about what my wedding will be like (because who knows if or when it will happen?), but I love dresses. This one is my favorite:

ohhhh I love this thread...yea I've had my wedding planned since I was around 12 and nothing has really changed. I will have a formal evening winter wedding.

Now I have several gowns that I am posting that I really like, but the last two are a combination of what I see my dress being like, which I will have made, I already have the designer, she made my prom dress and is a great seamstress, you should have seen her daughter's gown  and beaded, sheath, stunning.

Now all I have to do is find the groom, when (or if) I get married, its just going to take a while

http://a1000.g.akamaitech.net/f/1000...ions/4059l.jpg

Ok now my dress color will be a candlelight and I imagine a "Juliet" or "Maid Mariane" type dress, empire waist, long sleeves, etc. I also imagine perhaps a simple empire or A-Line sheath with an elaborate jackets that will be either empire or a-line depending on the style. The one thing that I do know is that there will be no pouff within 100 miles of my wedding. I also image my brides maids in either a 2 piece blouse/skirt or blouse/palazzo pants

Every one of those models was hot except the last one. The last one looks like she is cross-eyed, has weird hair and might possibly be going bald.

I can't find a good picture of my wedding dress online.

This one is not too dissimilar - but my dress had straps over the shoulders.

Here's my dress :) I didn't like it on the rack but fell in love. It took months to convince my mom that it was "the one."

Ignore the tags on the dress, they're sticking out kinda funny from when I was trying it on :)

Strapless, A-line with beading and a nice decoration on the back (a cool button or bow design) is my style. I want to look like a princess. :)

Is your double-wide in an English forrest (the picture is hosted in England so I thought the forrest was there too)? I've personally always wanted to wear one of those powder blue tuxedos to my wedding. In fact I will look on ebay today.

This is by far the most boring girly thread I have ever seen on Greekchat.

I remember the stipulation being that I would wear that wedding gown if you dressed up like this:

He has buttons on his collar and something that looks like it's between a single and a double breasted jacket. Why are you doing this to me?

I don't plan on getting married but..

if I did I would have a small private quiet shin-dig. If it came to it, and i had to do the big party, i would choose this:
http://www.bonny.com/bonny/images/407b.jpg

ms_gwyn 01-12-2005 01:50 PM

A few years ago when my g-dsister got married, my mother was practically on her knees begging both me and my sister to elope. She would pay for the biggest party in the world as long as we eloped, but she will not pay if we have a traditional wedding.

I can see her point because both weddings and funerals bring out way too much family drama....believe me I know.

But I want my dream wedding, so I guess I will have to pay for it ;)

DWAlphaGam 01-12-2005 02:29 PM

NinjaPoodle, yours is actually really close to what I want. I would like a dress that incorporates some red into it, since I'll be having both a Hindu ceremony and a non-denominational ceremony—my boyfriend is Indian, and I'm not religious, but I still want to wear a big white dress, which I can't do at the Hindu ceremony. :)

I also like these two, which have some nice Indian-inspired accents:

http://www.culture-shock.com.au/gall...mbr/mbr_1a.jpg

This is more or less what a traditional Indian wedding sari looks like, in case you're not familiar (they're usually red and gold):
http://www.homeindia.com/catalogue/a...ges/32155s.jpg

Has anyone checked out http://www.uglyweddingdress.net? It's hilarious!

PhoenixAzul 01-12-2005 02:45 PM

I've been to Indian weddings before, the bride always looks breathtaking in her red sari. Ive been to a couple as a guest and a few as a photographer, so I own a sari of my own as well, given to me by a friend. If I wouldn't get so many looks, I'd wear it more often. It really is rather comfortable and very feminine.

FireCracker....you have good taste ! I love that dress.

NinjaPoodle 01-12-2005 03:06 PM

Congrats DWAlphaGam! Sent you a PM.

Do you get to wear the Henna on your hands and feet?

PhoenixAzul,
I'm a photographer also but I've never shot anything other than christian weddings (Quinceaneras also, which might as well be a wedding:))
I would love to see an Indian/Punjab wedding. Lucky you.

ladyj39 01-12-2005 03:08 PM

My dream dress is to recreate this in white:

http://entimg.msn.com/i/gal/Undresse...an_300x435.jpg

I would wear my hair in a simple french twist or low bun with fresh white flowers in my hair. I don't think I would wear a veil.

I also liked these:

Oops! Don't congratulate me yet, because we're not engaged yet. However, we've been together a long time (it will be 7 years in March), and we've been talking about marriage a lot lately, so he should be proposing soon. He and I just have so many ideas and plans for our wedding that we both tend to talk about it like it's a done deal. :o

And yes, I am planning on doing henna, aka mehndi. I'll probably keep it fairly simple so that it doesn't look weird when I'm in my white dress, though.

Gee, thanks for posting a picture of Bobby's mom! I always wanted to see what she looked like. (You probably should have asked for his permission first though.)

LOL, let's see how long it takes him to get on over to this thread and defend his mama. I bet $5 that Rudey will tip him off.

You thought the headless maniquinn was prettier?

PS - She's not going bald - her hair is frizzy, and it needs to be re-fluffed.

I just spent the better part of an hour looking for the wedding pictures of some online friends of mine! They got married in a combination Indian/Orthodox wedding (religiously Orthodox, traditionally Indian). The bride had outstanding henna designs on her hands, and threatened to get them tattooed so she'd never have to work!!

FWIW, the idea of the henna is that a newlywed woman should not work, so her hands are covered in henna'ed designs. She cannot work until the henna wears off.

astroAPhi 01-13-2005 12:07 PM

I like a lot of the simple styles, however, I've never been wedding dress shopping so we will have to see what happens when I go.

This is my wedding dress - w/me in it! And my mom on my wedding day.
Clearly I'm not one for simple! I'm all about the sparkles!

ETA: I changed the pic to an actual one from the big day b/c for some reason it was posting some other woman in a wedding dress with a group of people, AND it was upside down!

BetteDavisEyes 01-15-2005 02:21 PM

I'm going to get my dress custom made simply b/c I'm picky & I can't find anything I really like. The next two pics are similar to the style I like but I can't find the pic that shows the dress. If anyone has seen the movie White Christmas, there is a scene during a party where one of the sisters gets engaged to Danny Kaye. In that scene, Rosemary Clooney is wearing a black off the shoulder dress that's knee length. That is the exact dress I want only floor length but I can't find a pic of that dress. I found these which are similar but not the same.

I fell in love with the back of this dress...
