will recs help me if I'm an upperclassman w. low GPA

I have a 2.65 GPA and will be a Junior rushing in the fall. I go to a school in Cali and rush isn't too competitive like the southern schools. I've gotten advice that recs will help a lot. But won't that just draw attention to my low GPA beforehand & won't they just decide they don't want me right off the bat vs. having met me during rush & getting to know me?

If people can write recs for you that explain your low GPA (for example if it's due to illness or family issues) then yes, they can help. Unless there is absolutely no pre-registration of any kind for rush at your school, the chapters are going to know your GPA before they get to know you.

By fall, do you mean this fall or next fall?? If it's the latter, you have a whole year to improve your grades and get to know sorority members which are the most helpful things you can do. If you mean this fall, I'm guessing you at a school with a quarter system?

If the sororities minimum requirement is above the 2.65, 100 recs won't do you any good unless you are the daughter of a national president.
