Greek Week Ideas

So in the fall my campus is having its 2nd ever Greek Week. So we are starting to plan it over the summer. I would love to hear what other campus chapters do for their Greek Week events/ what traditions you have.

F.Y.I. We only have two sororities and two frats on campus. Making it just over 200 students in Greek life.

Chariot race is always a good time! Plus then, like a homecoming float, the organizations have to spend time together building it. All organizations participating in greek week have to submit a chariot.

I don't think a chariot race between 2 groups would be very much fun (it's not Ben Hur).

With so few groups, about the only "competitive" events I can think of are Greek Bowl (trivia competition) and a charity competition for the king or queen of Greek Week. Anything athletic is going to be either pointless or unnecessarily competitive with only two groups, and boys vs. girls probably wouldn't work. If you want to have athletic events, divide randomly and include all 4 orgs in teams together, just for fun.

^^I like this idea. With 200 people, you could have a great softball/volleyball/basketball tourney if you did it for fun and didn't worry about dividing by org. It would be great to get to know other people than the ones you normally hang out with.

What about a lip sync or skit competition? You could call it Greek Idol.

We do karoake and a skit night at my school! We have similar demographics, 3 sororities and 3 fraternities, with approximately 150 people in the our Greek system. We also have tug of war one day, it starts with each org but then they will do 1st years vs 4th years, girls vs guys, etc. The points from those events come from wearing your letters, doing chants, etc, so it's not dependant on any particular skill. PM if you have any other questions!
