Separate Coat of Arms and Crest for a GLO?
I've spent more than a decade both in my Fraternity and Wikipedia trying to get proper heraldic usage of the terms "Coat of Arms" and "Crest" where a Crest the area above the shield in a Coat of Arms.
I was looking through the Brand Guide of Omega Phi Alpha and noticed they actually have *different* things for their Coat of Arms and for their Crest. (See http://omegaphialpha.org/opa-brand-dos-donts/ for examples). Are there other GLOs where the Coat of Arms and the Crest are both separate graphical things without the Crest just being a piece of the Coat of Arms (in a heraldic way? |
APhiA has a Fraternal Design (coat of arms) and a Shield, but not a separate crest.

(You can find old paraphernalia on ebay which has the shield on sweaters, but it was made before the rules changed) |
