Outfits
Hi yall....my daughter is going through recruitment at a large southern school this year and I am looking for advice. How appropriate would it be to wear a dressier black romper for philantropy day? We found one that is super cute and flattering...but I am worried about it being all black. I did not go through rush, so I would be very appreciative of any advice.
Thanks so much :) |
If it comes in another color, I would get that. It's hot and muggy enough down here....

I think black is fine (helps hide the sweat), just make sure buns are covered well.

Thank you guys!

Black absorbs sunlight, so she will be hot. I agree with Titchou that she might be more comfortable in a lighter color, and with APhi2KD that it should be long enough to cover her bottom when she sits down or bends over.

If she wants a dark color, navy is a good choice and pairs well with many colors for shoes/accessories and it won't show sweat.
Length is critical. Remember - she'll be sitting at parties. I've seen girls forget this and they wind up uncomfortable on the floor as they try to make sure everywhere is 'covered.' |
A good thought to keep in mind is that she will be dressing for other girls, NOT boys! Dress so that her grandmother would be proud to show her off.

On a practical note, she will have limited time to use the restroom. She will need to make sure the romper will accommodate that.

At a lot of schools, PNMs wear a T shirt provided from Panhellenic (at your cost or included in the registration fee) and shorts. You might need to look for just shorts.
