Pitt Yearbooks Online
Pitt has put tons of old documents and pictures online, including it's yearbook, "The Owl" from years 1907-1980.
There are pages for fraternities and sororities and it's pretty cool to go back to the turn of the century editions and see the very beginnings of groups that have been on Pitt's campus ever since (and also groups that have come and gone!). The link below will take you to the main Documenting Pitt page and "The Owl" is located on the right side. http://digital.library.pitt.edu/d/documentingpitt/ ETA: If you go to the '50s, there are full page glamour shots for the fraternity sweethearts! |
Pitt Media Online
Thanks, Ta Kala! These yearbooks and media guides are awesome! I've just spent several hours on the site looking at old yearbooks and media guides from the 1970's. It's nice to have them all in one place without having to drag out those 10 pound yearbooks. Any idea why they don't have the more recent ones on the site yet? Or is the Owl still published anymore? I think that I heard that they changed the name? When were you at Pitt?

I had trouble navigating the site, but it may be because of the frames. I'm going to try it again today (different monitor). I was only seeing about half of each page!
The good part is, my mother has a LOT of the old yearbooks. What made people think she was a depository for them, I don't know! |
