University of Alabama Recruitment 2007
 

Since so many people have asked me about Bama’s Recruitment I decided to start a thread. There are 15 Chapters on campus but on 14 will be participating in Formal Recruitment. SDT will have an informational tent for PNM's to visit.

In 2006 we had a total of 1357 PNM’s signed up for Recruitment. As of today (8/5) there are 1307 signed up with a week to go. Everyone anticipated another large increase over last year since that has been the annual trend. However unless there’s a major surge in last minute signups, it appears we may have roughly the same amount as 2006 which resulted in Freshman quota of 69 and Upperclassmen quota of 6.

Additional parties and breaks in the days were added to the first and second rounds. This will cut down on over crowding in the houses and hopefully encourage everyone to rehydrate and eat. August in Bama is miserable with the heat and humidity. Last year there were several cases of PNM's and actives collapsing.

Open House/Round 1: Monday 8/13 – 14 parties; Tuesday 8/14 – 9 parties; PNM’s attend 14 Chapters out of 23 total parties

Philanthropy Day/Round 2: Wednesday 8/15 – 8 parties; Thursday 8/16 – 6 parties; PNM’s may accept invitations to 11 of the 14 total parties

Skit Day/Round 3: Friday 8/17 – 7 parties; PNM’s may accept 7 invitations

Pref Night: Saturday 8/18 – 3 parties; PNM’s may accept 3 invitations

Bid Day: Sunday 8/19; Bids distributed at 5pm

Seconded. This makes me glad that Duke had/s deferred recruitment, because late summer in central NC can be dreadfully hot.

SDT is not going to be participating in recruitment this year, although they will be having a tent outside their house for girls to take a break at. Also, there are right at 1400 girls signed up to participate. It should end up close to last year as far as quota is concerned.

Oh, and there PNM's can go to 11 houses on phil. day. They changed that last year to give girls more options.

According to ICS this morning (8/7) there are 1379 PNM's signed up. Yesterday there had been no change. 72 were added in one day. Wow!

You mean they dont get to meet all chapters to start with???? Or I did totally misunderstand something?

There are only 14 chapters participating in R at Bama.

oh. :o I guess that makes sense. Hah. My brain is on another planet this morning.

There are 14 Chapters participating in Recruitment but we have 23 total parties in the first round. In other words the PNM's will be divided into 23 Recr groups and every group will visit every Chapter. Each group will have 9 off parties or breaks, but the actives will have to "work" 23 parties.
