The Big Thread of Fundraising Ideas

Hi all.

As an alumnus, one of the projects I've been in charge of is coming up with fundraisers for our undergrads.

I've spent the last 6 months collecting as many ideas as I could find as a result. I don't want all that work to go to waste, so I will be reposting them in chunks in this thread, with links to the actual sources for more info.

I think this thread could become a useful resource for anyone looking for inspiration for fundraising, so feel free to contribute!

I like the idea of a big annual yard sale with donations from local family, friends and alumni. What I like so much is that most people have household donations on hand anyway, and you're bringing in money from outside your typical support base. It can really be a win-win.

The Golden Rule of Successful Fund Raising: Never cannibalize your own group!

I agree. You never know what you'll find at a yard sale, and that's always a big reason for people to attend.
