How to know if a fraternity hazes

How do you know if a fraternity will be bad hazers before you sign?

Go right up to the president and ask him. He'll be thrilled you are taking such an active part in researching his fraternity.

You need to find a new hobby.

This is how you find out: step away from the keyboard and go meet Fraternity Men and ask them.

The second they give you a bid, they also punch you in the face.

When they start giggling after you sign.

Also, speaking in cryptic language regarding your future with the fraternity.

Hazing is illegal.

Of course, not everything that a particular GLO or school considers hazing, much less everything that any individual might consider hazing, will meet a particular state's legal definition of hazing.

Hazing is against nearly all fraternity's rules. If they are local only, or a colony, try to contact nationals of their president if you feel you are being hazed.

What does this mean?

jazing 09-25-2011 05:30 PM

Colonies are new (2 year process) and are in the learning process. Locals are a bit harder to monitor, which is when you would call up the GLO. If they are a colony, the national organization can help clear the issue up.

Keep in mind that hazing is defined differently per fraternity. Asking for a DD is not hazing, neither is asking for a ride at 2 am. Hazing is an act which places you into an incomfortable situation of embarhassment and such. Ask the president during rush about hazing (and costs, unrelated but an important thing to ask).

You typed "to contact nationals of their president."

Did you mean national headquarters for the colonies and whatever the larger entity is for the locals?

knight_shadow 09-25-2011 05:52 PM

I thought "of their president" = "or their president"

Dude, you're a pledge acting like you're going to educate people who have been Greek for years and years. We all know what a colony is. What didn't make sense is what you typed.
