Information Sessions for 2012 Fall /2013 Spring Recruitment - Area Panhellenics

With a tip of the hat to exlurker for doing this for last year's (2011-2012) recruitment, please post your alumnae panhellenic's information session for the 2012 crop of college freshmen/upperclassmen/transfers who are thinking about recruitment 2012-2013.
Paraphrasing her original post:
"Area Alumnae Panhellenics in many places are offering information sessions for high school seniors interested in Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 NPC sorority recruitment.

They can be especially helpful for "first in family to think of going Greek," or "new to city / region / live in small town / don't know of any sorority women" situations.

Mothers (and dads) are often welcome, too.

If you're not sure you want to join a sorority, these sessions can help answer questions about recruitment and sororities.

They're also a good way to network and get help in finding recommendations to sororities.

Typically these sessions are scheduled in February, March, April, May . . . check with local Alumnae Panhellenics and be alert for notices in local newspapers.

Whatever you may think about the idea/purpose of recommendations, or getting prepared in advance for recruitment, these forums, sessions, etc. can be a godsend. A potential new member, or a mom, can pick up truly useful info and maybe make a new friend or two. Moms who are sorority alumnae can brush up on their knowledge of how recruitment is handled "today" at the college your daughter, granddaughter, etc. plans to attend.

I hope sorority alumnae will post info about more upcoming sessions."
Thank you for posting!

SWTXBelle - I'm only a junior but interested in sororities and would be the first in my family to rush. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to go to the Katy style show or wait until next year? I'm pretty close to the Katy area.

While we'd love to have you (and your mother) attend the luncheon or any of the other functions, you really don't need to worry about until you are a senior. I would suggest looking at the recruitment booklet - the link is posted above - to get a good idea of what you will need to do next year.

Ok, someday, when I'm an alumna, I will work to add Los Angeles to this list. Our alumnae panhellenic needs to realize that we live in an age when many area girls want to go Greek, and that we, as the area Greeks, need to band together and help out.

/OT; PNMs, please take advantage of the resources available to you.
