Favorite Lifetime Movies
Hi Sorors, Sisterfriends, and fellow GC'ers:
Just watching my all-time favorite channel, Lifetime, and since this is Memorial Day Weekend, they are showing nothing but movies. I love watching Lifetime movies and these are my favorite movies to watch: 1. Both movies about Betty Broderick ("A Woman Scorned" and "Her Final Fury") 2. The Burning Bed 3. All the Danielle Steel books they turned into movies 4. The Babysitter's Seduction 5. All those movies about the mafia wives That's just a short list of the Lifetime movies that I love to watch. What are some of your favorites? |
Favorite Lifetime Movies
The burning bed is my favorite!! There's another one I can't remember the name of it but Nancy Mckeon(played Jo on the Facts of Life) was in it. Her husband abused her and she went to the cops and they ignored her.... Her husband stabbed her in front of this police and he didn't do anything. She ended up suing that department. |
MY FAVORITES

I LOOOOOOOOVE this movie. It is called A Cry For Help: The Tracy Thurman story. It first aired on NBC when I was in high school and I got pissed @ that old policeman who went to the bathroom instead of helping her. BASTID!! My other favorite is In A Child's Name with Valerie Bertinelli. The book is good too. :D This is where the sister marries a Dentist who beats her and kills her and denies it. Valerie Bertinelli fights to raise her sister's child. Both of these are sure nuff tearjerkers. I too love mafia movies. Those mafia folks are no joke. There is another one I like where David from 90210 raises his son from a one night stand. It was on recently and it was the first time in ages I had watched a Lifetime movie. |
Death of a Cheerleader, hands down. How can you not love a movie where Tori Spelling ends up 6 feet under? ;)

I love "Mommy will you let me sleep with danger?" It's the Tori Spelling one where Ivan Sergi turns into the psycho boyfriend who tries to change her and he's impersonating this guy he knew from her hometown. It was on all the time this past semester and the girls on my floor used to go nuts over it.
The other one I really like is the one where the main character is friends with this girl who was raped by the star football player at her college and how the football players try and stop the main character from printing an expose in the school paper. I am such a Lifetime movie addict! :D Jess |
I love In a Child's Name too.
There's one with Patty Duke, I think its called A Killer Among Friends. I don't know if it's classified a Liftime movie or not, but Kelly from Saved by the Bell is in it and her so-called friend kills her and pretends she knows nothing about it. All the while, she is up in the mother's house smiling and crap, like its all good. It was goooood. |

Re: Favorite Lifetime Movies
What a jokey thread!!
I love the Betty Broderick stories - that man drove her NUTSO. I also love The Burning Bed. My favorite Lifetime movie is DECEPTION: A MOTHER'S SECRET. Every time it comes on, my sister and I end up boo hooing. It's the story of this guy, played by Steven Weber (from that tv show Wings I believe, he also plays a character on Once and Again), who marries a chick with a son and they raise the son together for like 6-7 years. He keeps trying to adopt the kid, but the wife is like, naww... Then the wife dies in a car accident, and he tries to adopt the son...well, of course it comes out that the wife had actually kidnapped and stolen the son, and he really has a completely different family somewheres. They go back and forth about whether or not the kid is their missing kid or really his dead wife's kid. The whole thing comes to a head when Steven Weber is told by the original family that the kid got a little red fire engine for his 1st birthday and they put yellow paint on the bottom. Of course Steven Weber's kid has a little red fire engine...when he turns it over and looks at the bottom and sees that yellow paint, oh lawd...my sister and I just burst into tears every time! He ends up giving the kid back to the real family, but it's so sad because his wife died, and then he has to find out all this shady stuff about her. |
OMG!! I love Lifetime movies! I love the Betty Broderick movies as well mainly because the acting was off the chain! And I am SO sorry but when she was cursing out the answering machine I was ROTFL!!! And when she rammed the SUV into their house I was UOTSA (Up Offa The Sofa Applauding), LOL. Mainly because I didn't think she had the cajones to do it, but she did!
Now, I don't know if this one has been mentioned, but I love the movie (pardon this vague description, lol) where this guy murders his wife in their bedroom. The part that I remember most was when his parents have come to stay at his house when the police start suspecting him. The police search the house and dust it all over with this glowing stuff that detects blood. Luminol or something. Anyhoo, it shows the parents sleeping and then all of the sudden the mom wakes up and screams. The WHOLE room is glowing (the guy killed his wife in that room and the blood was everywhere). Whatever movie that was, it was THE BOMB. I think it might have been the one CT4 was talking about with Val Bert. Then again, I don't know because the same people act in all the movies, lol. Sigh. I am a poor unfortunate soul without cable right now so I am deprived of my Lifetime movies. I will now live vicariously through this thread until I am once again financially stable enough to have my cable restored. |

:D That's the movie. Girl that bedroom scene was sho nuff freaky. Read the book.  |
I've seen this movie a zillion times, but can't get the exact title...it's something like: "The Other Woman's Husband."

movie help
If someone could help me...
There was this movie on Lifetime about this lady who went to see her dentist and while she was under (unconscious) her dentist molested her... When she woke up she couldn't remember what happened...but she knew "something" happen. So the whole movie was her trying to prosecute his man and contact other women that he had did this too. They ended up finding the man, because of one the women sacrificed herself and brung a camcorder into the room and hid it. Did anyone see this?? If so what was the name cause i can't remember |
I am SOOO glad to see that there are other Betty Broderick junkies!! I can certainly understand her position - she put him through both medical AND law school, and he dumps her for his secretary?! As the juror said, the only thing I questioned is why she didn't do it before!
The Burning Bed and Death of a Cheerleader are also classics - pass the popcorn time. And isn't there one with Shannen Doherty, where she's in a sorority and some psycho chick tries to take over her life? And another Shannen Doherty one about the Dowallabys in Chicago? (checks IMDB) Those would be Friends 'Til the End, and Gone in the Night. |
There's more than one? LOL It seems like the LTMs are one big mini-series. They usually have the same theme: manbeatswifecheatsonwifehassexwithhisstepdaughtert henthewifekillshimrightbeforesherunsovertheinnocen tchildandcoversbothmurdersup. :D

You really took me back on these. I am a Lifetime Buff (embarassed). Outside of The Burning Bed, In a Child's Name, and Murder of a Cheerleader, I also love: 1. The one when Sarah Jessica Parker was a drunk and she had these kids and they kept getting sent to foster care (one was Sallie Struthers) and they end up going back to SJP. They were singing John Denver's "Country Roadddddddddd, take me home, to the place, I belong, West Virginia, Moutains Mama, Take me home, country roaddddddddddddddd" 2. The one when the girl is killed by her "best friends" and left in a stream or river. Then, the best friend moves in with the dead girl's family to cover her tracks and take over her life. It was starring Patti Duke and Tiffany Amber Thesis. 3. Tony Danza's split personality kills his lil fast ass teenage duaghter. 4. This man was married to two different women and was living a double life. I think he ends up killing one of the wives 5. Any Danielle Steele movie 6. When the family had an "invisible child". I always crack up on this one b/c they be talking to the child and everything. |
I don't know the name, but I liked the one where there were 2 mothers - one wealthy and married, and one single and poor. Their 2 children were accidentally switched at birth, and one of the children had some sort of brain disease later on.

Then there's the one that's based on a true story: a man has an affair, has his wife (Joann Kerns) bumped off, and denies it to his 3 sons. I was just thinking about that one last night, as Dennis Farino plays the attorney, and says to him, "If you cared so much about your wife, then why are her cremeted remains still in a box at the funeral director's?" |
Well, like everyone else, The Betty Brodrick stories are some of my favorites. Meredith Baxter-Berney played the heck out of that role!! I think every man needs to watch those movies as a warning.... lol
I love anything with Nancy McKeon or Patty Duke in it. One of my other favorites is the one, I think it is called The Face On The Milk Carton (or something like that) about the girl who found out that her parents were actually her grandparents (or so she thought) until she saw her pic on the back of a milk carton. I also like the one with the real skinny lady from Who's The Boss (I can't' think of her name) but anyway she marries men and then poisons/kills them for their life insurance. Well, she ended up getting caught because the last man she married, she faked her own death but then reappaeared as his dead wife's twin sister! As if people would believe that mess. lol |

All the Danielle Steel movies: Rememberance, The Ring, Family Album (? dunno if that's the title...but the one with Jaclyn Smith as the movie director). Those are always worth watching. The eating disorder movies: Hunger Point, Dying to Dance Homeless to Harvard and that movie with the Veronica Mars chick raising her brothers and sisters while in high school...both were good. The most recent one I saw was "She's Too Young" with Marcia Gay Hardin. Half the kids at her daughter's HS got syphillis and a bunch of STDs because they were screwing everybody. The daughter got it too because she gave head. That movie scared the isht outta me! |
Patty Duke has the best Lifetime movies!! I LOVE "To Face Her Past" w/ that girl from Growing Pains playing her daughter that needs a bone marrow transplant and she has to ask her other daughter (the one she gave up when she was young) to test and see if she's a match and she was played by the one that played Andrea on 90210. Then during the movie, you find out that Patty Duke REALLY had a past! That was goood!!
And I loved how she slapped her daughter's so called best friend in A Killer Among Friends at the police station and all the cops just stood around looking at her. That was good too!!! |
Omigosh, I forgot about the Switched Babies!! Wonder how that mess ever turned out? Same with that Baby M... I need a hobby...
|
I love Lifetime movies. My faves are:
She Fought Alone The Babysitter's Seduction and a few others whose names I cant remember... Lostnfound the name of that movie with Sarah Jessica Parker is "In the Best Interest of the Children" |

She's had a troubled life since then: -She sued to "divorce" herself from her birth parents because she wanted to call Robert Mays her legal father -She ended up running away from Mr. Mays, the father who raised her -She moved back with her birth parents, only to run away to the YMCA. She went back and forth between the two sets of parents -She married young and had a son, only to lose her son to the courts because of poor parenting skills. Sad. |
My favorite is the "Perfect Mother" with Tyne Daly
Tyne Daly is the title character here, and that's a good start, as she's well-known as a fine actress. When Ione Skye finds a guy she falls in love with and marries, of course she gets his family in the bargain, but she never counted on anything like mom-in-law. It appears that she is the ultimate control freak when it comes to her son, and this causes friction between her and the daughter-in-law. This war between the two escalates until the couple must break up, but by now the couple has had a child and grandma is not going to give up "her" family's grandchild so easily. |

Their 2 children were accidentally switched at birth, and one of the children had some sort of brain disease later on. This sounds like the movie my daughter taped and watched almost every day until we finally hid it from her. If it is the same the name of the movie is "Switched At Birth". |
Today I watched the movie called "The Spring" with Kyle MacLachlan and it got me thinking about the stuuuuupid movies.
This one was about the dad and son who accidentally ran into a husband and wife trying to flee a town with water -- supposedly from their "Fountain of Youth" spring. The people of this town treasured this spring because it was a healing source and it kept them youthful. But when it came time for your 100th bday they drowned your ass in the town fountain. Yeah. Another stupid one that comes to mind was the one called "The Lottery"...or at least I think that was what it was called. Starred Keri Russell (Felicity) and Dan Cortese. If your name was picked for the lottery, you were stoned to death. ...I wonder how they come up with these storylines, for real. |
Lifetime Network = where every guy in the movie gets killed within the first 15 minutes.
...although I will sheepishly confess to getting caught up in a New Year's Day "A Baby Story" marathon a few years ago. :) |
I only have one favorite....
...Sex, Lies, and Obsession with Harry Hamlin and real life wife Lisa Rinna (the irony of all this was that didn't Lisa Rinna pose nude (and pregnant) in the September 1998 issue of Playboy? Go figure...)
There is another Lifetime movie I would like to see that came out earlier this year about a teen hooked on Internet porn, though I can't remember the title. |
Right now I am watching Deep Family Secrets with Angie Dickinson. Not a bad movie.
I also liked that movie "Odd Girl Out". It kinda touched on the ish I used to have to deal with in elementary/middle school. |

I watched Human Trafficking over the weekend. It was a really good movie!!

Co-sign soror!:) Some of my favorites also include Patty Duke and it seems like in almost every one of them her child gets murdered. I like the one with Tiffany Theasen (Kelly from Saved By The Bell). I love the ending where she slaps the best friend becasue she killed her daughter. Another one was with Martin Sheen and they had one child, a son. The son joins the military and marries the first woman he sleeps with. The wife turns out to be a tramp and she gets pregnant by him. The wife and her lover kills the son (her husband) for $ and on top of that, kidnappes her daughter from the grandparents (Patty and Martin, who were taking care of the child at the time). The rest of the movie, the fight for justice for the son and getting their granddaughter back. Another one was with Patty having a son who lived in Chicago. The son meets a girl whose family has $. The girlfriend also beats her boyfriend up because of her explosive temper. It gets to the point that one day, she kills the boyfriend (Patty's son) and her family covers the murder up. Patty's looking for her son while the girlfriend and her family knows that they have dumped him in Lake Superior. Other ones I like... In A Child's Name (already mentioned) The one with Tyne Daly as the crazy mother in law There as also one with the guy who played Ryan on Y&R and Lily from ATWT whose baby was kidnapped There was also one with a baby being kidnapped by one of the Charile's Angels The one with the rich lady who was killed by her broke husband, who was a painter (this is a true story). It has one of the girls for Charmed on in... There's more but why I can't think of the name of these movies? |
Oh, I had forgotten all about the family with the invisible child.

oooohhh...I LOVE both of these movies!!! another one of my favorites is the "Bella Mafia"...all the mafia husbands are killed and then the wives go on a vengeful killing spree; the one wife finds out that her first son (that she gave up for adoption) is the one who killed her infant twin sons...she finds this out AFTER she has fed him poison and he's dying... i know i'll definitely be watching lifetime and the we channel over the holiday!! |
this brings back so many memories! Sunday afternoons in college, in the bed watching Lifetime with my suitemates and a huge pizza. Best Topic Ever!!!!
My favorite lifetime movies are: 1. In A Child's Name 2. both Betty Broderick stories 3. Tough Love (i think that's what it's called). these kids are in rehab and someone's mama comes in there crying talking about all the sacrifices i make for you and this is how you repay me. The girl still has attitude, then the mama slaps her! this originally came on when i was little, and it traumitized me cause it was the first time i ever saw a mother hit her child in the face! i decided right then and there i would never do drugs OR make my mom have to smack me. :o 4. I know my first name is steven (i also remember when it ORIGINALLY came on... i was so afraid of strangers when i was little). thanks cheesy movies for helping to shape my life :D |
