Panhellenic Bigs

Does your chapter do Panhellenic bigs for new colonys? My Colony is doing that with the other 8 chapters and I am not sure what to expect. If your chapter does it/ did it, how was it??

Typically,no. We have had bigs from another chapter, "Aunts" from the alum group, an "twins" within the colony.

No. Our colonies do Twins within the chapter.

I've never heard of this.

I'm a founding member of my chapter of AEPhi, but we were an absorbed local, so I already had a big sister from the local.

I like the idea of colony members having "aunts" from a nearby alumnae group.

If it is something the Panhellenic community embraces, we do it. Doesn't happen with every extension, though.

So the chapter I advise did this when they were a colony. They were matched up with a Panhellenic big sister and I think they did a big/little reveal. It was a way for the colony members to have a "big sister" experience, but it didn't go beyond the founding class. It was a nice way to make friends within the Greek community and some great friendships did result from it. But once the chapter went through formal recruitment and took their first new member class, they were able to the have the big sister experience within the chapter and start building their family trees.
