NPC Trivia

I thought it might be fun to ask some National Panhellenic Conference trivia!

Question #1:

What color was the Manual of Information (Seventh Edition) published in 1958 by NPC?

a.) green, of course!
b.) blue
c.) fuchsia
d.) plaid

honeychile 10-19-2005 12:43 PM

I'll guess a) green.

Of course, I'm just guessing!

NutBrnHair 10-19-2005 12:45 PM

Nooooo...not green (Wonder when that "Green Book" tag began?)

The answer is:

b.) Blue

*hangs head*

Do you ask next question?

NutBrnHair 10-19-2005 12:54 PM

Please honychile, you ask one...

Okay, an easy one:

How many NPC sororities are there currently?

AlphaFrog 10-19-2005 01:07 PM

26

Who was the last sorority to enter NPC to date?

Sigma Delta Tau in 1951?

A lot.

Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Theta Phi Alpha, Phi Sigma Sigma, Sigma Delta Tau, and my chapter, Delta Phi Epsilon, all joined NPC in 1951. I'm pretty sure SDT was the very last to join that year.

I think I know the reason why as it was explained at the DG. convention in 2004 when we honored an alumna who had many years of distinguished service, including serving as a NPC officer. I believe she was the NPC secretary and kept all the info anyone wanted in a green binder. It is the binder color that became the name of the "green" book. I remember distinctly this speech at a banquet. Everyone went "aha!"

Another Question?

The ten fraternities sending delegates to the 1904 National Panhellenic Conference agreed upon the order of rotation for officers on the basis of what?

a.) the order in which each group joined NPC
b.) the order of the founding date of each group
c.) they drew names out of a hat
d.) a formula developed by Betty Woods

AZ-AlphaXi 10-19-2005 02:04 PM

it isn't stated, but it looks like the order was established by the founding date of the 10 founding groups.

Which is older NPC or NIC?

You are correct AZ-Alpha Xi

In answer to your question ...

NPC is older. NIC was founded in 1909.
