Something else happened. This isn't the whole story, whether you know it or not.
Look, you have three options: 1. Continue to be friends with these guys and accept the fact that you will never be a member of this fraternity. Quit your whining and get over it. Join another group who will actually take you. 2. Continue to be their friend and continue to whine so they finally end up murdering you in your sleep to shut you up. You still won't ever be a member of their fraternity. 3. See them for the dbs they are and tell them to drink bleach. Join another group who will actually take you. You still won't ever be a member of their fraternity. |

You should just face up to it. THESE GUYS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. Friends do not cut friends. Run as fast as you can away from them. Don't ever have anything to do with any of them ever again. Try to join another fraternity were you can find real friends if this is even possible at this point.
Just to make you feel better, some fraternities pledge more guys than they ever intend to initiate. A lot of this goes on in the big schools in the South. They think this is really cool. I guess this makes them feel more exclusive or something. |

OP, listen to Barbie's Rush's three point plan. New members are the lifeblood of any fraternity so they're not going to shoot themselves in the foot for a spiteful vendetta if they actually like you. |
To Barbie well that is just not right of fair. I shouldn't have to suck anything because my friends are dicks. Like it or not for how they act they are the people that I am the closest with. If I would have known this was gonna happen I would have taken one of the other bids I was given. I messaged KSUviolet and told her some info to explain it better. The more I explain to people they are like these guys are just asses whether you are friends with them or not. They have rules like no dating a KKG. I never had a problem with the hazing like the buying condoms and gay porn it was kinda funny to go to the store and do that.
Badcat25 & Gusteau, yeah I heard about quotas before but we don't have that. If 2 guys or 20 get in there is no effect. I don't understand why you must assume they don't like me if I live with some of them still they would have kicked me out. If they didn't like me I wouldn't have pledged for 6 weeks, I would have been gone long before. If it really is just over an inactive big or person grudges then I don't see the fraternity being able to survive. I have to decide now if I go back to the visit others if I can fit in and get over the awkward of not taking their bid. I went where I went because I fitted in best with that image and those were my so called friends. There has to be another place that can give me a positive experience so we will find out this fall. |
I honestly think now if I hadn't know them that perhaps I would be in it. Really why do I need to be in it when as friends I can still see them whenever. That wasn't my point in joining though, it isn't about our friendship since those are established. It was about growing into a man as a Phi Kappa Tau!

Do I have to beat you over the head? I repeat, THERE GUYS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. It takes two to be friends. No matter how badly you want to be their friends they don't feel the same way. If they did they wouldn't have cut you. I am sure this really hurts but that is just the way it is and nothing is going to change it. Stop bitching about it and move on for god sake. When I went thru sorority sorority rush I wanted to be in this one chapter so bad. I was crushed when they cut me but it finally sunk in that they didn't want me and the sorority I joined did and I finally got it that I didn't want a chapter that didn't want me. Please don't take this the wrong way but it needs to be said.

Point A. Just because you "knew" someone for forever doesn't mean you are truly friends.
Point B. Even if you are truly friends, there are times when there are people you love having as friends that you don't think would be suitable members of your fraternity or sorority. Sorry BC, but friends DO cut friends sometimes. However - Point C. If these guys really ARE your friends, but didn't want you to be a member, they should have manned up at the beginning and said "dude, as much as we like you, you just aren't right for PKT - but you would be great for another group, good luck and have fun, we can all still be friends." They wouldn't let you pledge for 6 weeks and then blackball you. The dick move is not that they cut him, the dick move is that they took 6 weeks to do so. |

Being "best friends" or "close" or "buddies" with a handful of guys does NOT equal being good friends with the entire chapter or even being seen as someone they want in the chapter. Did you ever stop to think that your "best friends" are tools-and you were guilty by association- which is why the chapter doesn't want to initiate you? How old are these best friends you have? Are they older brothers who have pull in the chapter, or new guys that were just initiated and don't have rank? Or maybe you never took the time out to really get to know the rest of the chapter because you thought you were automatically getting in because you live with a few brothers. ETA: In some chapters it just takes a smaller percentage of negative votes to cut a pledge (not a majority or plurality). Just because the brothers probably shook your hand (when you approached them first), were polite or respectful in public and probably had some small talk with you doesn't mean they wanted you as a brother. There are chapters that are respectful and cordial to pledges they know will be dropped eventually. Why they waited so long to drop you, I wouldn't know. My best advice: move on. |
I don't know what gave anyone the right to talk down to everyone on this site like you are all better than God. Barbie, I don't know what sorority you were in so as far as I know you were in the worst organization on campus, the smallest, or went to a non-competative school. Even if you were in the so called best with 400 girls in a hard sec rush whatever doesn't give you the right to talk like this some priviledged life that I failed to be accepted into.

You don't have to beat anything in my head. I should move on but really maybe for once in life it isn't that it was me who failed or it is my fault. I guess none of you have ever been screwed over and you get everything you want in life exactly how you wanted it. There is about 15 guys each grade level. It wasn't that I was so desperate to be their friends. I happen to live with 3 actives who have been members since 07 & 08. No, I can't explain why I am not in it when you would think I would be since I am close to the guys. That is why it was a big fucking deal to me! I didn't screw up and many did that were initiated but you know whatever lesson in life this was it SUCKS!
|
I really don't care if I failed to get into it. This doesn't mean I did anything wrong. It doesn't make you better than me. Whatever organization you are in doesn't make you superior to anyone. There is always a fraternity better than yours Vito or with guys who have more money. If you were the great great grandson of a founder that doesn't make you anymore special than anyone else.
