Tragic loss of a Gamma Phi and an Alpha Kappa Lambda

From an e-mail from Gamma Phi Beta - :(

Today, our Sorority is saddened by the loss of a sister. This past Sunday morning, June 29th, Lauren Brue, a member of our Epsilon Lambda chapter, lost her life in a plane crash in Jasper, Alabama. A sophomore at the University of Alabama, Lauren was from West Des Moines, IA.

The tragic crash also claimed the lives of her boyfriend, Matthew Krump, a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity and his parents.

I heard from kk_bama shortly after her sisters found out after Convention, but was asked to refrain from posting publicly about it until Gamma Phi HQ released their statement.

I can only imagine what the families of all the victims are going through.

My prayers to the Brue and Crump families, Gamma Phi Beta - Epsilon Lambda, and Matthew's AKL brothers.

Love to our Triad Sisters...and ROLL TIDE.

How awful; and we were just coming home from Convention too. :( My heart breaks for these two families and the brothers and sisters of Lauren and Matthew. :(

I heard about this on the radio this morning, but I don't think they'd released the names yet.

How tragic. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and chapters.

Hey guys... thank you for the condolences. I took over as chapter advisor in January and this is certainly the toughest thing I've faced thus far.

Things have been a bit overwhelming...I am trying to facilitate a number of things for the chapter while being very busy at work... I'm also a member of the media, so I'm constantly surrounded by the latest news on Lauren's plane crash, which certainly doesn't make it any easier.

The chapter has gotten overwhelming support from Gamma Phi IH and condolences from many Gamma Phis and Greeks throughout the nation. Thank you all for your support, thoughts and prayers.

kk_bama: Tried to PM you but you're full. LionInMI went through something similar when she became the CA at one of our chapters. She could probably help with moral support, ideas for memorializing the sister and future issues.. like dealing with Pref, when emotions will be running high.

Your chapter, sisterhood and the families of both the young lady and young man are in my thoughts and prayers.
