For Fall 2008: Information & Recommendations - Area Alumnae Panhellenics
High school seniors (and their parents) thinking about NPC sorority recruitment in Fall 2008 or Spring 2009 :
This thread will list many of the informational sessions held by Area Alumnae Panhellenics. These sessions are fairly common in Texas and in some metropolitan areas in the South and Southeast. They're held in some other parts of the U.S., too -- for instance, Denver, the Seattle area, and other places, I'll bet. If a session is being held in your area, it's probably a great idea to go if you possibly can. Whether or not you like the idea of recommendations or attending a meeting, this IS the way things are done in some areas of the U.S., and you can learn a lot, get tips (and maybe help) on getting recommendations, and make helpful contacts -- maybe even a new friend or two! Please note that contacting / getting information from Area Alumnae Panhellenics is specifically recommended in this important posting: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/an...ment.php?f=217 |
Oooo . ..I belonged to the Katy Panhellenic! (When I lived in Katy, of course)
|
Does anyone know of one in the Birmingham, Al area or how I could find out?
|
chachagirl,
i went to npcwomen.org, then to alumnae panhellenics and looked thru the listed alumnae panhellenic chapters. i did not see one listed specifically for birmingham,al, nor jefferson county, but i did find one for walker county(jasper) and one for montgomery. neither had a linked website to npcwomen.org.-not to say that they don't have a website tho. i will try to ask some friends who live in birmingham if there is an active alumnae panhellenic chapter. |
I find it hard to believe, with the number of greeks at both Tuscaloosa and Auburn, that there is no panhel in Birmingham. I could be getting my Alabama counties mixed up, but what about Pelham?

jefferson is one of the main counties of the birmingham, al area. there is no listing at npcwomen.org either under jefferson county or birmingham.

Thanks so much

Should I just call alumnae chapters for different sororities? I'm so confused!
|
The best way to get recs is to do so through an Alumnae Panhellenic, since they have alumnae members from most likely all 26 NPC sororities.
http://npcwomen.org/alumnae-panhellenics/directory.aspx I'd suggest contacting alumnae chapters of sororitites if your local APH doesn't have a member of that sorority to write recs. |
Do should I contact the Alumnae Panhellenic?
|
the first thing you should do is find ladies that know you who are members of sororities. ask you friends mothers, your relatives, you parents friends and coworkers, your current and former teachers, ladies at church, etc. even if they are not sorority members, they may know someone who is.

Chicago Alumnae Panhellenic
http://www.geocities.com/chicagopanhellenic/index.html This is a good resource for those girls in the northern Illinois area who may not know that Chicago/Chicago Area Suburbs has a Alumnae Panhellenic group. I don't think that they have informationals but they are a good resource!! |
