Formal rush and NPC

Is there anything in the Green Book that specifies if you have a chapter of NPC on your campus, you have to have a formal rush once a year?

From the blessed Green Book ...

When there is only one NPC group on campus, a Panhellenic can not be set up. However, once you have two NPC, the first group is responsible on setting up a Panhellenic. (NPC Unanimous Agreements VI (1- A))

That also means that a Formal Recruitment does need to be set up. NPC 'recommends' (p.77) "One formal membership recruitment period per year,..."

Primarily, this is for keeping costs down from having more than one 'formal' recuitment, but as well, having more than one formal recruitment makes the planning and scheduling for chapters (and the stress associated with putting on a sucessful recruitment) be nothing but recruitment orientated... and not as much fun as it should be!

Most students will take advantage of 'Student Groups Days' at the beginning of each semester to get involved while they have the opportunity before settled down to (ugh) homework. Besides, the earlier you get people involved, the better it is for the individual!!

Most campuses that have only 1 NPC group (and no other locals etc), will tend to have 'formal recruitment' events like a regular 'Panhellenic' campus. You may want to PM MooseGirl as her group is the only group (NPC) at her campus (no locals either)

If NPC exists on campus, it is recommended that you have one formal recruitment per year. That's just a recommendation, and not something that HAS to happen. I know at Millersville last year, formal was cancelled because only 15 women signed up to go through. They ended up doing informal instead. It happens, but it's rare. I'd question the circumstance in which they are cancelling formal recruitment. THAT'S the problem.

Love ya girl!
