Frat Accused of Hazing After Pledges Tried Stealing Alligators
Daytona Beach Shores -- An Embry Riddle University fraternity is under investigation for hazing, after five pledges were arrested for trying to steal an alligator from a mini-golf course during “Hell week.”
On April 17th, Daytona Beach Shores police arrested the Sigma Alpha Epsilon pledges after several were caught on camera armed with sticks and tape, and leaping into a pit packed full of small alligators.
Initially, police released no evidence suggesting the stunt was related to fraternity hazing.

Heh...this is Florida, folks. Why go to the golf course when you can just catch the gator crawling through your neighbor's kitchen?

In Georgia, it's zebras. Some college boys down near Atlanta are in trouble for stealing their neighbor's zebra (named Barcode, cool name) and letting it loose in a campus building.

I saw that story, and since the zebra turned out to be okay, it's HILARIOUS.
But I want to know - what were they going to do once they had the gators???

I think it said in the article that they had duct tape and that the alligators were small. You can tape the three footers' mouths shut with it, and any smaller would be easy. They'd probably let it loose somewhere!
well that answers it

Just wondering if anyone, besides yours truly, has clicked on the link and read the whole story.
IMHO, there is a whole lot more going on there and none of it is very good or funny. The accusations would seem rather serious.

I did. I think my response was appropriate. Of course, that is often my response to stupidity.

I did, but was writing only about the alligator stunt. The only other concrete accusation I saw was the "happy apples" - which is beyond stupid. Yes, if there is hazing it is not funny. But I was addressing only the idea of taking alligators. Sorry if you felt I was also laughing at the hazing allegations.

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter's facing some consequences, according to the recent news story (see below). Various requirement include community service, putting on an anti-hazing program, and being ineligible for campus awards:

Hm, and my first word that comes to mind is stupid.
Second is ignorant.
And some ask why GLOs are kicked off of schools.

No its actually funny. How many brothers do you know, that would go the extra mile to steal an alligator. I'm sure it'd be funnier if they went to SeaWorld and stole a whale or something of equal size.
