Are people participating in Earth Hour (http://www4.earthhourus.org/) tomorrow? Is your city one of the "official cities"?

LOL the only time the lights go out in NYC are during blackouts. im going to go with NO.
ETA: I only heard about it because im a CNN fiend. and NYC is probably one city that SHOULD do this. even if it was a couple of buildings.

I am! The mayor of St Louis has proclaimed it 'Earth Hour Day', which is a little cheesy but is still nice that it is officially recognized.
Besides, the power goes out around here so often I have plenty of candles. :)

The State of New York (not just NYC, the whole state) is on the list of participants.
So "Earth Hour" is on a Saturday night, during prime dining-out hours? Why do I get the feeling this isn't going to work so well? Unless the restaurants set out lots of candles in the dining rooms for "mood lighting" ... ?

Tampa is not official, but I will be participating.
Does this involve turning off ALL electronic appliances, or just the lamps that illuminate?

There is one restaurant here that is actually doing just that, which I think is pretty cool.

Charlotte's on the list of cities, but I hadn't heard about this either until I read it here. Tonight at 8pm I will probably be on a stage with bright lights in my face and a karaoke mic in my hand.

Mrs. DA can, and I'm sure will, turn off the lights at home, but it won't work well to turn off the studio lights in the middle of a TV show, so I can't participate personally.
Sorry.

That was the first I heard of it. My first thought was, if you want me to cut the electricity, Google, how are going to use my computer?

From my understanding, we were supposed to cut lights and non-essential electronics. Computers are essential, aren't they?
