HD DVD Dead - Long Live Blu-Ray (or, until the next format is developed)

TOKYO - Toshiba said Tuesday it will no longer develop, make or market HD DVD players and recorders, handing a victory to rival Blu-ray disc technology in the format battle for next-generation video.

I really liked HD DVD... I have a PS3 too though. Once Warner Brothers signed exclusively with Blu Ray it was over.

Darn, I haven't even taken the plastic wrap off of the HD DVD- Planet Earth series that someone gave me for Christmas. I was planning on buying an HD DVD, but no sense in wasting the money. I wonder if I can exchange the gift at Barnes & Noble without a receipt.

This reminds me of when my parents were bitching about what they were going to do with their Beta Max!
